I was having some tuning issues while using thier aa obd1 s52 chip, and I was told to send it to them when I called them and described the problems.
I ended up figureing out the problem, and it wasnt the chip so I called up aa and asked if they would send me my chip back. They said sure no problem and he told me that shipping would be free of charge. This was on a friday and he said that I shoulc have it by the following wednessday, but I wasnt given a tracking number.
So wednessday arrives and no chip, so I think ok maybe its just taking a little onger than expected to ship. So thursday goes by... friday.. saturday... sunday.. and on monday morning ( yesterday) I decided to send them an email asking for a tracking number or some type of confirmation that its in the shipping process.
I got no response to that email after all day so I sent another that nite saying that this situation is getting a little ridiculous and blah blah blah.
So today goes by and I still didnt have a response by 5pm today so i sent another email saying that they have the worst customer service I have ever had with any bmw company ever.
I little later I get a response from ray ( aa employee) saying that "on the phone we told you the CC was not going through for shipping cost" and that it was sent today.
If I would have known that was the problem then I would have gladly paid the >5 shipping cost so i could have had it and actually drove my car the past few weeks.
It really makes me mad that he tried to lie and blame it on me by saying that on the phone he told me the cc was not going through, ( which If that was the case the card is active and should have gone through) :mad
Well at least I got a tracking number now and know that it will be here by october 1st or so.
Sorry guys I just had to vent some anger. I will never use aa again for anything :mad
MJFX328 09-28-2004, 08:04 PM That kind of stuff happens man.. keep in mind florida did get hit with a hurricane this past weekend.
Not taking sides.. but Ive always heard of them having great service..

Exactly.
:)
///Mr. Three 09-28-2004, 08:19 PM That sucks, however I think it is always is best to call. I find that email gets ignored for days at a time cause their phone rings so much and they have so much going on (not AA but every company.) Calling gets the most priority. Not taking sides, like everyone else said.
good luck
In the past I have had great service with them, and I am taking the hurricanes into consideration.
What makes me mad is we could have resolved this much sooner than we did if he didnt say the chip was shipped and it really wasnt. thats what makes me mad.
Its not really aa fault its mostly rays fault, he is the one who I have been talking to this whole time.
Oldskoolbeat 09-28-2004, 08:21 PM First time I hear something negative about them, but then again, every business cant be perfect. Everybody has been acting all stupid because of the hurricanes but that still shouldnt be any excuse.

nice e36. Which part of orlando do you live in? Ive never seen that driving around..
When he was supposed to be testing my chip I called him and he said he would call me back in 30 min and he never called back.
I called the next day and he was out on lunch so they took my name and phone number and he didnt call that day or the next.
The day after that he was ther and I got a hold of him and he said that he didnt call b/c he had no car to test my chip with. But never attempted to call and tell me that.
m3fuz 09-28-2004, 08:30 PM I have never heard anything bad about AA. I hope that Ray isn't the norm for the company. Florida has been shelled recently with bad weather so I would assume that maybe their files got mixed up and confused you with another client.
Sorry to hear about your experience though.
Oldskoolbeat 09-28-2004, 08:31 PM nice e36. Which part of orlando do you live in? Ive never seen that driving around..
I live by the airport on goldenrod. I havent been to the meets yet and frank is gonna kick my ass if I dont get to the next. The past meets, Ive always had something dramatic come up preventing me from going. Are you going Oct 16. to the winter park meet for the concours?

Yeah that is another common problem. I agree that calling only works when people actually answer or call back. Its almost like nothing seems to work sometimes.
97Calypso328I 09-28-2004, 10:13 PM what a coincedence
although at least I was able to drive my car
DocWyte 09-28-2004, 11:49 PM I've had nothing but good experiences with AA. Karl burned me a custom high altitude chip for my AA s/c. Recently Craig and Karl spent quite a bit of time on the phone with me helping me diagnose a problem and sent out a bracket at no charge.
When push comes to shove and you need to get ahold of someone there's just NO replacement for picking up the phone and CALLING them.
dugmar 09-29-2004, 07:35 AM Its not really aa fault its mostly rays fault, he is the one who I have been talking to this whole time.
You may wish to consider changing the title of this post if this is how you really feel about it.

themadhatter 09-29-2004, 08:05 AM am I reading your first post wrong cause I thought you mentioned that shipping was free and then you state that they were waiting for a new cc to pay for shipping fees....right?
I currently have 2 AA parts on my car and a third one is going in the next two weeks. :devillook
so far no complaints but then again only one of my products was purchased directly and it was a smooth transaction. :dunno

You know, I've been dealing with Ray for about 2 months now regarding the prepurchase, purchase and after purchase and installation of my AA SC. I'm not trying to give any excuses for him, but he has always been pretty good with me. It's true that they are SWAMPED. Again, no excuses, but with 4 hurricanes b1tch slapping them over the past few weeks, I would give him some slack. He hasn't been able to get back to me "immediately" also, but from knowing a bit of his personality over the phone for a while, I think he's got his hands full. Again, I'm not offering excuses for him, but Florida's infrastructure is affected - phone lines down, cell towers not working, electricity dead, roads blocked, etc. etc. etc. It's hard for any business to get back on track when these things happen.
Note that I can be the biggest PITA if treated wrong... For work I'm a management consultant specializing in....Customer Relationship Management...

no your not reading it wrong. Thats the part thats making me mad, this could have been shipped a long time ago but it was just sent out yesterday for whatever reason.

actp16 09-29-2004, 05:42 PM i had a bad expereince with that Ray dude before too....dont know what i would do if i see him in person.....probably will beat the shit out of him.. :evil2
hc1001 09-30-2004, 05:13 PM good thing i didnt call AA... i emailed them and chris hugh replied back to me and was nothing but great. maybe next time contact chris to help u? chris even took care of shipping charges for free and i didnt even buy anything!
WhiteM32 09-30-2004, 05:16 PM Ray is notorious for sucking ass at customer service, its always the "i'll call you in ten minutes" routine or i'm at lunch/vacation/sunbathing excuse, get used to it or just call Karl

Lol I did get the lunch excuse a few times and the Ill call you back in 10 min.
Neither time did I get a response.
Is ray a partial owner?
Prestige329i 10-01-2004, 06:21 PM No Rey is not a partial owner, he is a sales representative.
I am very sorry for any inconvenience that this has caused you in any way. I am sure Rey did not intentionally do this. As stated earlier, we have been going through a rough season (hurricanes) so the stress level has been kind of high.
I am not going to come on and point fingers but if I am not mistaken, you were told that we were charging you freight seeing as to how the mis-diagnosis was on your end and the chip was actually not the cause of your problem. Unfortunately, that was done verbally so there is no way of proving it. You said to charge your credit card for the amount. We did so but the card was declined. We contacted you and left messages for you to call us. We did not here from you. We tried the card on a different occasion and it went through. We then shipped the computer chip back to you. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think you should have it by now.
Can I ask you a question, if you never received a call from Rey, you never received your chip, you were told that it was coming free of charge, why wouldn't you call and speak to a Supervisor of some sort? You come on the board trying to discredit an AA Rep when the problem could have been resolved in a different manner.
I want to apologize again and I really hope that this does not deter you from any future AA purchases.

All of this IS NOT true.
I was told by ray that he would ship the chip back to me for no charge that day, then he said how does that sound.
I said it sounded great.
I waited until I was told the chip would arrive and then I gave it a few more days 3 to be exact before I started sending some emails.
I would have called but I figured that an email would work just fine since I havent had any problems with sending them to you in the past.
Trust me I wanted to drive my car very badly for that amount of time that I didnt have my chip. If I would have know that all you wanted was $5 to ship it then there would not have been a problem.
I did not get any calls from you. the only call I have got from you was saying that you received my chip.
I completly understad since nothing was wrong with the chip that you wanted me to pay shipping, if It was my company then I would have dont the same thing, but I would say they didnt have to pay and then not ship it when the cc doesnt go through.
Yes I did get my chip in today, Thank you.. It works great.
The last time I worked with you guys you were great and thats why I was surprised when this happend.
Im not blaming the company either why dont you check the title, It says "Ray"
scottycs 10-10-2004, 05:05 PM Do a search. I have never seen anything positive about him. There is a reason he is banned from the message boards. Avoid him at all costs, his business practices are shady at BEST!

If this is true, why does AA still employ him? Just curious.

probably blood. :rolleyes
BlackM3Sedan 10-12-2004, 09:38 AM I've had very similar problems of no response and lies being told from AA regarding a defective Gen III exhaust. I was not at all impressed with their customer service. Although, I do admit that it was great when I was giving them the $650 for the exhaust.
scottycs 10-12-2004, 09:43 AM After he gets the money, he is always busy when you call him!
DocWyte 10-12-2004, 07:48 PM I've had no issues with AA at all. They've bent over backwards for me on several occasions, including follow-up emails AND phone calls to make sure I received the product and everything is ok.
whakiewes 10-12-2004, 09:31 PM I think its best that Chris(ScottyCS) and I leave this alone, but I will make one post...just do a search on Rey from AA.
AA as a company has great products and service. While there prices for select items are something to laugh at( used turbonetics manifold that they are selling for mroe than it cost new, and MasterPower T-61's they bought from my same supplier for $250 and are selling for like $800), its all about the money, and AA customers will pay it. Rey on the other hand is what has made me, as well as others, turn the other way. When you fork out $400 for custom software, then it never even gets ordered VIA AA, and then you call back bitching, and it finally gets ordered, and they charge you again, you get pissed. Thankfully, someone pointed us in the direction of a good sales person, and we got what we wanted, overnight shipping free, as well as a refund of my previous $400. Rey is a guy that is all about the money...when you are forking over the $650 for an exhaust to him, he is your best friend, but after he gets his commision, its like you don't exist. I can't count the numerous emails and phone calls, as well as posts, frowning on Rey's lack of service, and shady business. AA won't fire him, and until they do, I won't order another product from them!
DocWyte 10-13-2004, 12:20 AM No offense, but that's the pot calling the kettle black now, isn't it?
96INFMSM3 10-13-2004, 01:11 AM No offense, but that's the pot calling the kettle black now, isn't it? :confused Sorry if I'm a little slow on the uptake here but what exactly is that supposed to mean...
whakiewes 10-13-2004, 08:54 AM DocWyte,
Not really! The mistakes I made, I paid for, and no longer am in any kind of retail business. I realized my mistakes, and changed. As for the seat issue, that guy is like John Kerry...he can't get his facts straight, and changes his opinion by the hour!

Hey Pal give the guy a break, he is a wonderful guy, shit happen's. He is a great and polite and very helpful when I need something. He must be very busy trying to please everyone, and cannot control everything that happens @ AA. He may be told 2 day from the higher, and if it does not get done the man in the middle ends up suffereing. So you should keep your harsh word's to yourself. Remember you havent delt with him so keep it yourself. Dont comment. :devillook

mrdoenutz 10-20-2004, 12:12 AM Rey has been nothing but helpful whenever i needed an AA product or have a question. If he doesn't know the answer to a question, he doesn't give me bs, he will find out and let me know.
scottycs 10-20-2004, 09:02 AM Uh, No I have dealt with him A LOT. I know much more about Rey then you do. At first he is cool, but you will soon learn as I did.
You are a retailer so of course he is gonna be a little nicer than you. But all of regular customers can tell you how it is. There is a reason he is banned from all the forums and there are TONS of negative threads. Do a search.

MDabney 10-20-2004, 10:45 AM OK guys, it's time to move on since this thread has apparently turned into a "personal" pissing contest.
The primary purpose of this particular forum is for feedback about vendors that you have experience with but this thread has degenerated into something beyond that.
