i would appreciate if anyone could tell me how many pounds of boost a m50 motor can handle(safely) i really want to know.

Depends on the type of blower/compressor, intercooled or not, tuning quality, fuel octane, and the condition of the motor.

In general, people can probably get away with 10-11 psi intercooler with a centrif (due to the low boost in the midrange), maybe 9 psi or so (I have been running 10 intermittently as a test, but would not recommend it) with a turbo or PD supercharger, intercoolled.

I would probably not push past 7-8 psi unless intercooled or water/alcohol injected though.

This is all assuming good fuel (preferably 93 octane, maybe 91 if you stay on the lower end of these numbers), and good tuning.

i have dinan supercharger and it is non intercooled car. i run 93 octane. im which is better alcohol/water injection or a intercooler im thinking an water to air intercooler

if i put a water to air intercooler 93 octane how many psi at max should i shoot for with a smaller pulley

With an intercooler, and proper tuning, you should be able to run 10-11 psi on your car if your engine is in good shape.

The "proper tuning" part here is probably the KEY though!

Paul E ran 11psi for quite some time on "stock" Dinan software with ONLY water injection...granted it is an S52 motor.

I currently run 11psi with only water injection as well.

Another thing to consider is your boost bump. Smaller blower pulleys can lead to belt wrap problems. My biased opinion is to go with a 6" crank pulley...if you then want to go with only 8-9 psi you can go with a larger blower pulley (3.48" or 3.60") and promote even BETTER belt wrap!

PM or email me if you are interested in a crank pulley for +3 psi boost!

Buldogge,I thought Paule is also using aftercooler?

BUT...He ran the car for 25,000 miles or somesuch with only water injection!

Paul E here. Buldogge is right.. Ran sell over a year with just the dinan software, 11 psi, and water injection. Got better results, though, when I went to custom tuning, as the dinan software really is too lean with 11 psi, although, it 'worked'.... Got better results again when we added the aftercooler... Got still better results when we got custom techniquetuning software.

So,if I am to follow you correctly..Everything worked great from day 1.However,as you modded then modded etc... it worked better still. Are you trying to say(eg) your girlfreind is beautiful but, with each plastic surgery her beauty is beautified? :help

jimmy, you do stretch things dont you. ;) Let me put it this way.. IN general, with dinan sw, 11 psi, water injection: 315 whp; with custom sw, 11 psi, water injection: 325 whp; with custom sw, 11 psi, water injection, aftercooler: 338 whp; with custom sw, 11 psi, water injection, aftercooler, euro hfm, larger injectors: 353 whp.

is there any other companies that make water injection??

Red where have you been. Aquamist does a basic 1s or AA has a full setup with a tank and all the fittings that you will need.

Plus the current pump AA is using will handle a lot more methanol/water.

with water alcohol injection do you think i can SAFELY run 9 psi no intercooler on my m50 motor

What really matters is peak cylinder pressure. That's a function of boost pressure, compression ratio and the easiest parameter to change IGNITION TIMING. If you find a tuner who can tell you what max cylinder pressure will be with his software in a stock M3 motor through out the throttle, temperature and pressure maps please shoot me an email message instantly.

You can run 15 psi on a stock motor safetly if there wasn't pre-ignition and timing was retarded adequately, although extended operation under retarded conditions would be hard on your exhaust valves.
