Alright guys heres the story. I posted pictures a while back of my friends car that I had borrowed for the week. Well it was definitely fast but i didnt know how fast it was so i called up a friend of mine that owned a 1997 Lux edition M3. I was in the is300 and he raced me in his M3. It was a close race but his M3 held his ground and i was impressed by his car. Even though the is300 was fun to drive, id rather drive it as a beater and pamper my bimmer instead. :D

Here you go:

1997 Lux M3 Titanium silver or Artic?? (5-spd)
Full AA exhaust system
Turner Motorsport Full intake and cam kit (w/ chip)
Headers (i dont remember what kind)

vs.

2003 Lexus is300 Charcoal gray (5-spd)
coilover system
HKS superdragger exhaust system
short shift kit
Turbonetics Stg 2 turbo (dont know the size)
Greddy E-manage system
autometer guages
upgraded clutch (brand ?)
7-psi due to being undertuned w/ stock internals at the time

He didnt dyno it yet but told me 270rwhp but im thinking more like maybe 240-250 at the wheels? The M3 with the cam kit alone is quoted at 295 hp by Turnermotorsports but i dont know how much that would put it at the wheels.

The current info right now is that the is300 is in the shop getting upgraded internals and new software and the goal is 14 psi at the moment. The M3 was sold to an employee at IBM. for 22.5k. it had 38k miles on it. My friend bought a lifted truck instead. LoL

Sorry the footage is crappy, apparently my friend isnt very good at handling anything, and the footage came off of a 5.0 megapixel digital camera. i was in the is300, and my friend was in his M3

It's an SRT stg 2 :D and oh yeah tell your friend not to change the internals if he's only going for 14 psi (stg 2.5) he'll save a lot of money..... :D he just need 2.0mm/2.8mm Headgasket and ARP Head Studs. but if he's going for 450+rwhp then just forget what i said ;) you're friend is probably right about the the power it's making because a stg 2 srt kit makes around 375 crank hp and since he's not tuned his 270 rwhp is about right. and i bet you that M3 is not too far behind those numbers......

Yeah, quick M3. I downloaded a video on the net once that the turbo IS300 beat the E46 M3 at every run. I dunno what boost he was running though. :)

Yeah your friend's kit is basically the base turbo kit with intercooler :D i'll say that your friend's power is at least three times as much with this set up.... :)

I know that E36 M3's are rated at 14.6 in quester mile bone stock. What are lS300's rated at? Always been curious...

IS 300_M
10-07-2004, 06:27 PM
e36 M3s are not rated 14.6 :nono i drove mine stock @ 14.1 and then high 13s with my mods. IS 300 are slow in stock form 14.9 to 15.6 but when boosted right watch out :devillook

Yes low 13's. Someone ran a 12.6 with stock everything (tires included) besides underdrive pulleys, but that is definitely not the norm.

LOL
i was racing a friend in his 350Z this past weekend, and midway through the race, i hear a big turbo spool and out of nowhere a lexus is300 which EXACTLY looks like the one you posted. once i realized what was going on, i shut it down. the guy flew past us and had more to spare.

FI is the devils work. :evil2

There are a couple guys in the 265+rwhp range.

Just to name a few...all these guys are members on here:

Ali
ArticFox
Mad Dog 20/20
Jim O.
Justin OKC

All of these guys made 265+rwhp N/A.

I know that Brian Lieb's car made like 272rwhp. Probably the most I've seen around on this forum...

The M3 in that video is damn quick to keep up like that...or he was just a superb driver agains the IS driver...
