My engine/drivetrain mods - Conforti CAI & SW, Magnaflow exhaust, 3.73 diff

So I was leaving my buddies house around 1:30 this morning and I'm approaching Highway 85 on Blossom Bill in San Jose. As I'm about to merge on the freeway I have some slow car in front of me and I can tell that there is a 350Z behind me. I was curious to see if he was going to go and sure enough....

*Keep in mind with the 3.73 diff my shift points at @ 6500rpm are 3rd = 78mph, 4th = 105 and top speed at 7000 rpm is 140...

....As soon as there is enough room to merge on the freeway the 350z darts out and goes full throttle. He immediately has a good 6-7 car lengths or so on me as I nail the throttle in 3rd to catch up. As I upshift to 4th I'm gaining ground pretty quickly.....by the time I'm ready to go to 5th I'm at his rear bumper and pull to his passenger side to pass. By the time I'm at 138-140ish I have a good car length and a half to two car lengths. I finally shut down at 140 and he flys by. He exits the next off ramp and I give him a honk and a wave and he does the same. Since I have never raced one of these things I have no idea if the guy is modded or not. I do know that at the track my M Coupe is no doubt faster than any of the 350z's I have encountered so far, but that of course is the track environment which is completely different.

way to pull on the Z :buttrock . my bro has a 99 (ground control coilovers, SSK i think by UUC), so as you can see there are no mods that add power. with the both of us in the car we pulled a 350Z from 0-80 pretty hard. its not that the Z is overrated, but that the Coupe is underrated. the Coupe has close to a 300lb advantage over most sport coupes.

Nice kill man, good way to show the Z what M power is all about...one question though, you were doing 140mph and he did a fly by? He would have to be modded for that wouldn't he? 140 for a 350Z seems fast, maybe top speed is 150 or something...but that still seems fast...???

He flew by because I decided to go for some threshold braking after I knew that the run was a done deal :)
