I was helping my friend move to his new house, and my dad had taken my car so I had to drive his.. a 1992 Toyota Tercel with a whopping 89 horsepower and 3 speed automatic. This thing comes to a complete stop with its warped brake rotors, worn out brake pads, broken signal light and various other performance modifcations.

Anyways we're pulling up at a intersection.. and this late model integra pulls up.. and obviously like usual he had the fart can exhaust, carbon fibre black hood that doesn't match his car aand a huge wing.. Well he looks at me and smiles, and I decide to play with him a little.. so I blow him a kiss and wink.. naturally he looks confused and me and my friend laugh out loud hahaha.. [i love lladies only ha]

light goes green.. and we both launch.. oh my god the next few lines are going to show you why ricers are ricers... He revs the shit out of his engine in 1st, then just slams it into 2nd and you can just hear the punishment hes dishing out to his tranny.. we're both pretty much lined up .. he slams it into 3rd and at this point his fart can exhaust is nearly deafening.. lol...

At this point he realizes a '92 tercel painted snot green color is neck and neck with his Type R stickers, fart can exhaust, and obviously crappy shifting.. I decide to let up on the gas as the engine sucks wang.. lol, he doesn't even look at me and just drives off..

That's honda power for you, DID I MENTION MY DADS CAR HAS 300,000 miles on it?

Hmm, maybe his car was broken. Theres no way a tercel should keep up with any Teggy.

Umm.. I hit the gas, and we were side by side all the way up to 70kph. I'm just calling it like how I saw it. The funny thing is.. my dad's other car is a 99 tercel [dont ask why] and it its a speedy little car.. I don't see why it couldnt keep up with a integra..

Tercel engine is 1.6L, Integra is like 1.8 i believe.. Teg's horsepower is relatively similar to the tercel but the main difference is my dad's ENGINE IS 300,000 miles and still going.. I bet that teg has closer to 100..

Oh well, he looked very embarassed.. my dad's car was falling apart. I didn't say I pulled away from him and I was car lengths ahead.. I just said I kept up with him side by side all the way to 70.. And I'm sorry.. but thats sad..

My friend can give a 99 prelude a 3 second head start and he'll beat it with his 5.0L mustang.

sorry bro, didnt mean for it to come out that way. Its just that your taking 140hp compared to 90.... not to mention the difference in torque. Im not saying I dont believe you, just maybe that there was something seriously wrong with his car. Or he wasnt really trying to race you. Then again he made have had like 4, 12's, which would have made all the difference in Power to wieght.

I used to race a 1.5ltr Honda Concerto, It came with 90hp. At the time it was the most logical choice for a overseas car. anyway, I know how to race.. My best reaction time was .555. My rear bumper would be at the other guys front bumper before he even launched. You know what, I would still lose :mad This is against a Cav LS with a 2.0 115ps motor. He would dust my little honda. My point is even with a difference of 25 ps, I would still get my ass handed to me. against a teggy, a 90hp car wouldnt stand a chance.

He's sitting at the intersection revving his engine and looking at me. I rev back and blow him a kiss lol.. anyways he looks a bit confused and green light goes we're off..

The Integra's 140hp means jack all.. I hung in with him because we both lacked torque. I manually shifted the automatic, and revved the crap out of my car too.. which is probably why I was at least side by side with him till 3rd.. I doubt he knew how to shift anyways.. he was like grinding every gear.. and you can hear the horrible sound of his fart can exhaust.

His higher horsepower only means he has a higher speed limit than I do.. the tercel's 95 torque vs. the integra's 110 torque [educated guess here] is why i could stick with him till 3rd..

I'm too tired to debate this though, that's all I saw and I thought it was funny..

-----------

What's gonna be REAL funny is when I get approved for a loan for a VERY VERY nice 8 series beamer I saw at my uncle's dealership. All I can say is I wont be wasting time on ricers no more.

nice run. I believe it. Don't any of you know what "power to weight" ratio is? Also, horsepower really only has a little to do with top speed, gearing is a big issue also. I had a girlfriend with a manual tercel and that thing would pull on my old 88 prelude Si (engine was in great shape too) from a roll. the prelude has about the same specs as a b18b with a little more torque. The tercel has to weigh like 2100 lbs though, has small skinny wheels (less rotating mass and wheel drag), and at about 90 plus hp that's not bad.

Honestly Ive seen plenty of Tercels race when I lived in Guam. I never saw any win though. Not sure how much Hp my moms corolla had, but it dusted tercels :stickoutt

I think that the D16z6 may have been one of Honda's greatest engines. With the VTEC-E (for economy) it was racing technology in these everday econoboxes. They run forever and can be made to make very good power (if built for power as opposed to economy).

My buddy's car that we built for Honda Challenge has a D16z that, with 170,000 miles on it, put down 122hp to the wheels! That is with an intake and exhaust, but in a 2100lb (race weight) car makes for decent fun around the race track.

I always like these busted car kill stories, one of the greatest kill stories I ever read was of a busted olds cutlass station wagon taking a chevy beater station wagon.

Boy Hugo and Silver are slippin. I drive one of the faster cars on the board, get a race with (and beat) a Ferrari 355 spyder and that thread gets towed in 5 posts. I must have missed the bimmer in this thread. :confused

Anywho, way to show a dumbazz ricer up. Its always good for a laugh. :cool

Funny stuff! Kind of like the time my friend in his 2000 S4 gave us a 10 second head start when we were driving a '98 Elantra 4-speed with the tranny in "power" mode...That was the worst death the Elantra ever had. :)
