View Full Version : E36 M3 vs. V6 accord
slcook54 09-25-2004, 03:20 PM After installing the Euro HFM, chip and injectors, my buddy and I were both cruising with the throttle mashed and huge smiles on our faces suprised by how different the car is. He said he was hungry to we stopped at the local Mexican food place and he ordered a burrito.
He finishes and we are driving over to my other buddies house. We are driving on a two lane street and there is a light up ahead. There are four cars in the left land a none in the right, so we move into the right lane and take the front spot next to an accord.
There is another light up ahead where we have to turn left so I have to out accelarate the accord to get into the left turn lane. I didn't know he was going to gas it but he did and I reacted instantly getting a good shift to 2nd and he sneaks behind me also getting ready to turn left.
We go for a few lights and then finally come to a nice open strech of road both lined up. I let him floor it and once we are neck and neck I mash it in 2nd so the Cosmos Racing intake is wailing in his ear.
Needless to say, but the end of 3rd I have made my point nearing the century mark and get on the brakes with at least 7-8 lengths on him. He passes by us at about 110 and throws on the hazards. :lol The car was not rice at all, it was basically stock, but my friend at I both knew he was joking and found it hilarious, at least we hope he was joking. A fly by was bad enough, but to throw on the hazards, well it made my night.

mihalis 09-26-2004, 09:22 AM What kind of Accord was it? Was it the new one with a 240hp V6 and a 6-speed manual? Or was it the previous generation 200hp V6 that only came in autos? It sounds like it was the previous gen...
Nice kill though.
Nater 09-26-2004, 01:48 PM Those honda's look good on paper (horsepower) but lack torque big time (as most of the honda's).
I raced one of them in my bone stock gti vr6 and wooped 'em. Those things lose steam quickly on the highway...
Gotta be the lack of torque. Good kill.
Later,h

My 350z Race (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=189448&highlight=350z) That was when I was pratically stock, I should have no problem pulling on one now, unless it is modded.

Both stock(E36 M3 and 350Z), the 350 will pull as the speeds increase.
Steve, nice work:)
SC David 09-26-2004, 04:31 PM My mom has an '02 Accord 4cyl, and its relatively quick. It would easily beat my car to 60, but when you're getting on the freeway with that thing you'll get up to 50mph and it will start to lose steam, unlike my car which is pretty slow up to 50 but keeps accelerating at a similar rate all the way up to 90ish.
Cluttered comment, I know. My point is just that with my experience in newer Hondas, they're not nearly as slow as people make them out to be. A current gen V6 Accord would never take an E36 M3, mind you, but it would certainly put up a good fight against an E46 325.
switlikbob 09-30-2004, 02:43 PM I raced a 350z about a year ago in my 96 328i, which only had CAI...he beat me for sure, but not by much at all...I was very surprised...we were only shifting 1st-3rd, since there were a lot of lights...but it was fun...

Pretty much the same scenario here. I ran a manual 350z (2003) when I first bought my 328is and was within a car length or so of his rear end from first to the end of 3rd. I ONLY had a dinan CAI. I would love to run into one now, it would be a nice run/kill. =P
Way to throw down on the V-tech! Nice kill!

I would love to run into one now...I got a 95 M3 with Euro HFM, CAI, 24# injectors, and AA Exhaust...I would wup-ass on one of those suckers...

phillyB///M3 09-30-2004, 08:35 PM Nice kill... I had some guy telling me how his Accord was so fast... then he asked me what I drove and he wasnt so excited about his car anymore, especially when I told him it was modded. haha... his facial reaction was funny.
I've taken three 350Z's that had minor mods (intake, etc..) A decently moidded e36 M should run one with no problem. Now its the boosted ones that I keep hearing about that will give us problems.
