The results were ok, not fantastic to the level that I was happy with it however. In the end I still took it to a body shop and got them to cut it. I plan on having another go on another car at some stage tho.

I occasionally use Scratch-X by hand to reduce the appearance of deep scratches. It can be pretty aggressive - I recently used it in conjunction with Griot's Machine Polish 2 (more aggressive than Machine Polish 3, their finest machine polish) and found that Scratch-X was slightly more aggressive than Machine Polish 2.

I would recommend that if you use Scratch-X, you should follow up with a fine polish afterwards, as the Scratch-X can leave microscopic scratches that appear as a fine haze.

what kind of fine polish do you use?

It works really well in taking off oxidation of non-clear coat paint. The results on clear coat paint are not so obvious and I would use other products instead.

What paint code is your car? Scratch X did wonders on my previous 93' 325is which had a non-clear coat alpine white II paint. Or was it II?.. whichever code, it didn't have a clear coat.

hmm, i gotta look. alpineweiss, not sure if its 2 or not. im pretty sure i have a clear coat tho.

what kind of fine polish do you use?
The finest polish I have right now is Griot's Machine Polish 3. The bottle is nearly empty, and I'm keen to try Klasse AIO next.

i used scratchx on my jet black car, and it really didnt do a whole lot.. it dulled down the little tiny scratches but didnt get rid of them
