i called one $stealer and they want $75 ... unbelievable ...
i was wondering if someone figured out the pin layout yet
on that connector ? because it is unbelievable that the oil
reset tool sells for $50+ and all it does is simply short-circuits
2 pins for 3 seconds :(
I am still looking for somebody to help out here. Appreciated.

GQ_Style 09-23-2004, 06:41 PM $10.
bimmerforce 09-23-2004, 06:45 PM $10.
if you know how to do it, i think $10 is fair.
let me know how you want to proceed ?
i can paypal you $10. But really, if you know
how to do it ... why not simply put it out for
free ... it would help out non-millionaires ... and
non-desperate people with money will not browse the web for it
anyway and will likely buy the tool or goto dealer ...
please advise (sion@cs.purdue.edu),
thanks,

GQ_Style 09-23-2004, 07:23 PM Once enough of you guys chip in for the tool, after I recover the cost, the service is free. But until then, just chip in. I am in the northern part of the peninsula. PM or email me for details.
10kken 09-23-2004, 07:26 PM I recently purchased a Peake SRS Code reader/reset tool and I'm making it available for rent. It's currently out, but it will be available in a week or so. Send me a PM if you're interested.

You will ship to California :confused
;)
10kken 09-24-2004, 11:01 AM What i'm doing is charging $15 per use if I have to ship it, and you pay the return shipping. There's a $100 deposit that I'll refund when I get the tool back. There's a link to my original post in my signature.
GQ_Style 09-24-2004, 01:18 PM If you are local to Northern Califronia, I am cheaper. Buy California to keep California strong.

I've only had to do it once, and brought it to Allison w/o calling. The dude reset it for free.

aaronsdropzone 09-28-2004, 12:54 PM The connectors on my seatbelt tensioners came loose and so I had to reset the light after I fixed them. Don't forget to disconnect the battery if you have to do the same, wouldn't want to risk those puppies going off (even if it is a remote chance). I rented the tool from Kenshiro and it was a very smooth process.

Didn't see that...I stand corrected. :)

jonjon0nline 11-18-2004, 12:29 AM Alright guys with the tools I need you! I'm in Bay Area, Concord in particular, and if you're local with the SRS tool hook a fellow BMW owner up :D . I know people on this thread from the Penninsula have one, but that's too far from me! So fellow East Bayers with the tool HELP! I can pay if need be.
manuelku 11-18-2004, 05:27 AM what is the tool look like? is that the round thing that has many socket at the bottom? I just bought a M3 and it comes with things like that, I was told it's a tool to reset something.

Found GQ_Style in SF Bay Area offering to reset SRS light for $10, and he is a man of his word. Met Ed today at his place of work in Redwood City, and he promptly reset my light with his peak tool. Nice, polite, articulate young man who exudes enthusiasm for BMW's. He made my day! Thanks again, Ed. BTW, my SRS light went on (and all components in the multi-purpose steering wheel became erratic in operation) because the ignition switch (electrical side component) on 2000 528i malfunctioned. I was only able to diagnose cause of bad ignition switch due to postings in the forum.
