I was sitting around thinking about performance mods for the m50 and came up with the idea of doing a swap for an S50 head and S50 cams.
Is this possible? I am pretty sure the S50 and M50 use the same block. If it is possible what kind of performance gains could I expect?
Just curious...:help

All you need are the S50 cams and software. Heads are the same thing. You will probably get around 190rwhp and 170wtrq doing the swap with the software compared to around 175rwhp and 160wtrq for all M50 bolt ons.

ok. Is there anything else you would suggest? I was thinking about saving up and boosting it because I know it is a very strong motor, but I'm not sure.

Well for starters, I recall reading that if you are using the old non vanos M50 you dont use both s50 cams.. You actually keep one of your existing cams and use one of the S50 cams. The non vanos is already supposed to have hotter cams though. I think the price of software is pretty high as well.

I think you're supposed to buy a Schrick cam for the intake, then put your intake cam where the exhaust cam was.

Believe me, I've spent the past two days researching this thing and it seems I'm running around in circles because some threads on this didn't get finished and others turned into pissing matches. There should be a good bit of posts in the E36 forum, many say to just swap in S50 internals in completely and go to 2.9l stroked.
