If so, what are your impressions? Did the dssr appreciably reduce side to side slop as depicted on UUC's site?

I installed a UUC EVO3 shifter a few months ago. My old shifter felt vague and rubbery....couldn't tell whether I was hitting 1st or 3rd gear. It was very nail-biting to drive aggressively...I found myself shifting into the wrong gear more than once. Now it's super precise & slick like butter, better than my buddys MZ3 with 12K mi. I still have about 3/8" side-to-side play at the shifter knob because my lower linkage to the tranny is worn & I did not install DSSR yet. When my wife wiggled the shifter while I was laying under the car with a mirror, I could see the slop is in the ends of the link that DSSR replaces. I can't wait to install DSSR.

Anyway, with the EVO3, you can REALLY tell when it's engaged and the gates are easier to find. The MZ3 owner was just as amazed, after driving mine. It felt like I bought a new tranny. My 540i has about 70K mi, so DSSR should really help.

Please let us know your thoughts after installation. I am also dying to hear the results of this product. I currently have slop in my shifter as well.

Installation is complete...side to side slop is reduced and everything feels tightened up, i.e. shifts are more precise...one side effect, at least on my car, the shifter is now cocked to the left about 20 deg while in neutral, rather than straight up and down...

edit: shifter is cocked to the right, not left, about 20 deg.

Additional comment:

It's easier to shift into reverse and 5th gears now, the feel is much more positive. After eyeballing the right lean of the shifter, I'd say it's more like 10-15 deg rather than 20...something I'll adapt to in a couple of days. IMO, this is a mod that works as advertised... :D

The 10 degree change might be due to the original rod being twisted or pin wear. What I'm saying is the "change" you noticed is probably due to the worn & bent original components you had.

That's what I'm thinking as everything is working and shifting is more precise now...
