I just bought a 93 525 with 130k miles. I know the original waterpumps were plastic. Is there any way to tell if the waterpump has been replaced? What should I look for? Thanks.

if u don't have any records, not sure how you can tell.

plastic waterpumps are ticking time bombs.

The Orange one is a ticking time bomb...the black one is alright.

I've heard of problems with the metal ones coming loose on the shaft sometimes, but never seen it.

Your best bet is to replace the thing before it's a problem.

Yeah, I'd go ahead and replace it. Does'nt take much in either cost or labor to DIY.

If you have 130k on the car chances are that it has been replaced already
