I've never used Rain-X before, so I tried it. It sucks and leaves streaks on my windshield when it starts to rain. I'd rather just use my wipers, does anyone know of a good way to remove it?

My guess you didn't apply the rain x correctly. I've been using that nonsense for 4years and I love that thing. Are you using the one that comes in liquid form in a bottle where you have to squirt it on to the windshield?

isn't the squirt bottle one the crappy one?

Yeah...it wasnt' applied right. Rain-X is one of the few products I absolutely swear by.

If the windshield was too warm when you applied it you'll get that streaky effect. But if you want to wash it off, run it through a car wash that has a hot water pressure spray.

no offense, but how do you mess up putting rain-x on? you wipe it on, wait and wipe it off.

I'm almost sure I didn't mess it up, I used the stuff that comes in the red bottle. I wiped it on a paper towel, put it on a COLD windshield (this was after washing my car), waited about 2 minutes and wiped it off with a clean paper towel.

Windex will get it off?

No doubt when dry it makes my windows look awesome, I just don't like how during the first few minutes of rainfall, its a little hazy.

Are you sure you used RainX? It only comes in yellow bottles. The interior anti-fog stuff comes in black. I've never seen RainX in a red bottle.

Rain-X is cheap and you can get it almost anywhere. I've used it for at least 15 years.

I don't like the way it builds up on the areas of the windshield where the wipers do not sweep. I also found that the raindrops will break into lots of very small drops that are more difficult to see through than it was without Rain-X. That was on my Porsche 944, and it may not be true on a BMW which seems to have a more upright windshield.

BTW, I think acetone will remove it.

Thanks for the replies. So using my windshield wiper messes Rain-X up?? I didn't know that, I'm an idiot. Thanks for the advice.
