I've been asking around here and there about local "good" shops (aside from the dealer) that work on Bimmers. Where do you take yours?

I know of:

Werner's, Eurotype Express, Spicer's.

So far, I have heard great things about Spicers.

discuss now please: :D

Dude, I had an appointment with him last week. Didn't turn out too good, or I guess I should say it didnt get started on the right foot. First off all, I am NOT complaining on his work at all, I just got the heebee geebees and left.

I made an appt with him to swap my diff. I went to there, found his shop in the back alley, and he wasnt there. So I called him and he asked I leave my keys in the mailbox and just leave my ride there :help Well, I didn't feel too comfortable about this AT ALL as his mailbox was out in the open. As I was in my car waiting for the misses to come pick me up, some phreakin transient came out of the bushes next to my car, flipped out his wallace, and started to pee. Not on my car, but damn close. So, I was a little discouraged about the entire situation and instead of screwing my Glock into this transient's head for possibly peeing my car, I left and said phuck this. I later called Albert and gave him the heads up, he was very apologetic. He seems like a real nice guy, it just didnt go right :(

i am sorry you did not have a good experience... you might think of giving him another chance... if it was so tramatizing... i know they serve coffe and cookies down at BMW of Murray and they have leather couches.. of course all these things are designed to confuse you into giving them your CC # and have auto bill pay so you never see the bill... but hey its all about not haviing people releving themselves near by... gotta love big city living... not that SLC is big city.... but you know what i mean.. low overhead means low prices...

The only complant I have about the dealer is prices, other then that I love they're service and Mike in the service departmant is a great guy to do business with.

I also like Alternative European, call Jason 24hrs a day and he'll get you half the prices the dealer charges. You might run the risk on someone urinating on the roundel though :stickoutt

I agree with ben though, if your capable and have the time, DIY :alright

But I like Coffee and Donuts and cookies!!!! http://www.wildyoats.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/oink.gif :D

Don't get me wrong, I usually ALWAYS do things myself such as the clutch I did not too long ago. There are times though that I do not have the up to date diagnostic equipment and or time to deal with things. Not too mention, I get a little closterphobic (sp?) under the dam car on two jackstands. I need a lift man.... :D

Like I said, nothing personal AT ALL against Albert, he seemed really cool and one day I will give him another chance, but I wont leave my keys in a open mail box so "joe the hobo" can go play "Ferris Buellers Day Off" in my ride. :nono

Well, I do almost everything myself. Only if I can't diagnose something or if it requires a press will I take it somewhere. With my BMW, I've only dealt with the $tealer and Werner's (and a Porsche/BMW shop in Kansas).

Basically, if I ever go to the dealer again, I will request the master mechanic to work on the car. No one else.

Werner's: Doug the owner is pretty knowledgable, but no perfect. I brought the car in for a hesitation problem, offered my thoughts, and was told it was something else. Wound up being what I thought it was. But, the other time I went there he nailed the diagnosis right-on and was accomadating with my need to have the car back by a certain time for a road trip.

I will try Utah Imports next time I need something done. They mostly do Audi/VW/Porsche/Honda street cars, but can work on anything. They've built everything from purpose-built autocross cars to drag cars to circle track racers.

Some fun facts :)

BMW of murray, The service advisor their "Mike Kasparian" is who I would recomend he has been a good freind of mine since I was 3 and bar far the best one there some one above mentioned him also.
Now the tech's
Now the following techs there is who I would request.
Dave
Wade
Duystin
Jeramy
Now there are other good techs but those are probly the best ones there. When Josh from eurosport is having something he cant get he usally comes and talks with Dave and Wade.

Now alberts place is kinda hard to find, he is a good guy. But a PAIN in the A$$ to make an apointment and have it kept with him. He also make custom stickers and it took him 4 months to make them for me :( and he spelled it wrong. ( and the process to make them only took around 1 hour)

I like Josh at Euro sport, but I am not sure he does maintnace Stuff.

The Shop that Jason works at is good for maintance stuff imo.

But by far I would DO IT MY SELF over anything, but when I did my Cam's It was Dave and Me I didnt want to screw them up :)

Just my $.02

I am melissa's personal mechanic except for when the DME goes haywire and Josh @ Eurosport can't even figure out whats wrong. Then it goes to the dealer and costs 1400 bux :( Oh and btw unless your one of mikes friends you'll be better off with a dif service adviser ;)

You're not so bad. You just need to learn to tray the tools after you're done instead of randomly placing them around the shop.

We have to look for treasure every 10 minutes and after the job is done.
