I've never really delved into highend wax, I use p21s cleaning products, but have been using Eagle One wax and it flakes like a mother...

Would a better quality wax cut down on that stuff?

If you use P21s or S100 Carnuba wax you won't get the white powder when you take it off. It even says on my tub of S100 that it doesn't make a powder like some of the other waxes, it also comes off easier than most.

I'll remember not to use the Eagle One.
I have good luck with Meguiars Cleaner wax if you don't mind using one.
Says on the lid-"Clear Coat Safe".

Yep S100 is awesome, no powder at all and it buffs off a lot easier than other waxes even by hand. I waxed my whole car in about 30 mins by hand with S100, you can even use it on the windows.

I use the Eagle One Nano Wax and that stuff is awesome. Awesome shine, but doesnt last. I usually nano wax then two layers of s100-- it's plain sexy. BTW the eagle one nano wax has doesnt get all powdery... you probably use different stuff.

all carnaubas will flake and create dust if you leave them on to dry. synthetics (Klasse) can be taken off immedietly so there are no flakes at all. Pinnacle souveran is also another example.($$$)

I use S100 which is supposedly a pure carnuba and it even says on the container that you should wipe it off before it turns to a haze. Sort of the same deal as Klasse. I apply it then wipe it off a few seconds later and I don't get any of the powdery stuff. I have some Pinnacle Souveran but haven't gotten a chance to try it yet.

If you go with a sealant you don't get the flaky white stuff either. Zaino can go on just about every surface of your car, excluding the windows, and doesn't leave any messy residue.

i think the key is to any carnuba to wipe it off before it dries. do like the directions say and only work a 2 sq ft area at a time. or go with a sealant.

I have been applying Wolfgang ( no residue ) then waiting a day and applying a coat of Pinn. Liquid Souveran ( no residue ). Been working great on my dark blue paint. I also like the P21s carnauba but to much trouble to remove compared to the Liq. Souveran

Exactly. That's my finishing wax, after all the meguires polish. Best sealant, although it only last about 2-3 washes before it starts to fade. Def a great top coat wax that's easy to put on and take off.

another vote for p21s it works very well and doesn't leave any flakes or white smears on the plastic moldings.
