Would you trade your 02 M3 for a 02 M5?

Nope. The m5 is nice but I love my M3. I dont like 4doors that much anyway.

If I could only have 1 or the other, maybe. due to the #0f doors and size diff, M3 & M5 are very different cars.

I was just in this perdicament. However, based on the fact that the M5 is a monster weight wise, and I like going to the track, I opted for the M3. Besides, it would have been stupid to have an 01' 540i and an 03' M5. ;)

I vote for the 5. More of a sleeper that will knock the socks off most junk.
But then again, I am 6'5", so the larger vehicle would suit me better.

I was just in the same situation. When i went to buy my M3 a couple weeks ago they had a 2001 E39 M5 Jet black, black leather, 32k miles no navi, and no pdc and it was 49k. Since i was paying 42 for my M3 i actually thought about it for a while. Seeing as how i hated the wood everywhere on the m5, wanted nav, and couldn't afford the extra 7k for the car plus added insurance i happily stuck with my M3. I don't think it was a mistake, i LOVE the M5's and hope to own one in a couple years, but i could not justify all the extra $$. I love my M3, and can't wait to try out an M5, i know it's everything everyone says it is and more.

A few people become addicted to the torque of the 5litre.

Fuck yeah.

A factory V8 M3 rivals the Holy Grail itself, if you believe in that sort of stuff.

I don't know what they showed you. But navigation are standard on all M5 in the US and sports interior have aluminium trim instead of wood.

I just took a quick look inside, saw the wood and was uninterested. You are probably right though, it might have had nav. It did not have the sport package cause it had the lux seats and wood. I knew i couldn't afford it, so i did not want to get excited about it.
