View Full Version : TECH TRIUMPHS! UGA dodges bullet.
FAST5 09-12-2004, 02:11 AM I have to say that the Tech vs. Clemson game was one of the best I have seen in a while. Surely this is one that will go down in infamy. Oh, and I also expected a little more out of UGA today. Especially since the BCS (BS) ranked them 3rd in the country. And they barely even shook off an unranked team. :rolleyes
Oh, and business as usual for the GATORS. :alright

punknamedjimmy 09-12-2004, 11:16 AM all i have to say is. LAME.
that was not a good game, that was fricking GHEY. man, i could have snapped the ball / caught it better then the punter.
damn. and who in hell thought it would be a good idea to put a 5'7 defender against a 6'2 reciever. no. it doesn't work like that.
i need to be coach this is outragous

be honest for a second. if we had actually played half way decent, we would have won.
in fact we SHOULD have won, but we fucked up.
Kyle K. 09-12-2004, 02:33 PM That's fine, thats how upsets work. Ever stop to think the reason you didn't play up to your standard level is that you didn't expect us to put up a fight? Our game threw a wrench in your plan and knocked you on your asses?
Oh, and how bout the pass to Bilbo that WAS a reception for a first down that got called back, ending a big drive for us, and allowing you to score a TD on the drive?
Anyway, poor calls aside, Ball and Johnson are clearly a much more potent combo than you guys expected, and PJ stepped his game up a huge notch since last years contest.
adeelpowers 09-12-2004, 04:09 PM All that matter is:
Tech 2-0
UGA 2-0
Clemson 1-1

don't make me call my mommy.
honestly, i think gt is a pretty decent team, but i don't think they put a wrench in anything. we ran a lot of stupid plays for no reason which was a big negative for our offense. and we put some bad matchups on defense.
why was a 5'7 guy covering a 6'5 giant? that makes no sense. if you're going to do something like that double team that guy or something.
blah. i was dissapointed to say the least. specially when we had that lead.
punknamedjimmy 09-12-2004, 04:53 PM Ahem...
UMD 2-0
sorry i didn't call you, i forgot.
Its ok... i was busy starting fights with clemson fans. It's funny how people don't like it when you wait until the stadium gets really quiet and yell "F*CK CLEMSON!" at the top of your lungs. People with kids should have the good sense to not sit in front of the GT section.

Eastern Michigan, what a triumph for your Gators Kevin. Lemme know when you guys really start your season. :D
As for the Dawgs yes the offense came out and played, well terribly. BUT, the D was near perfect for most of the game and the last time I checked 20 unanswered points against a very underrated USC team is nothing to turn your nose up at.
Either way I'll see you in J-Ville, you are going aren't you? And yes the Bulldogs will triumph this year and finally get that monkey off their back, or at least i think they will. Come Oct. 30th we shall find out.
greateratlanta 09-12-2004, 09:08 PM A win is a win in my book as ugly as it was. We have to regroup and look to Marshall next weekend. Did anyone see their game against #9 OSU????? WOW is all I can say. What was suppose to be a freebie beat up game might actually be close.

Yeah, that was pretty surprising. It'll be very interesting to see what UGA does against them. So much for taking the little guy not-so-seriously.

Gotta agree pretty much across the board. Had UGA not let 16(!) points on the board in the first half, it wouldn't have been nearly the same game. UGA's defense held USC the rest of the game, while allowing Greene some time to get his act together and actually lead the offense towards some points.
But, as was said, a win is a win, no matter what the score.

HA! :lol I think whooping ass on an unranked team is a lot better than nearly loosing against an unranked team. :D Yea, E. Michigan is a little further down the food chain, but it's still nice to know we can keep our composure. This weekend at Tennessee should be a good one. Oh and Chance, I WILL see you down in Jacksonville. :buttrock We definitely have to meet up.
I'll buy you a scorecard. I say 17-10, GATORS. You guys have always seemed to have a problem getting into the teens. ;)

Remind me of the "ass whooping" you put on that same unranked team last year...you did not take the lead until the 3rd quarter. Final 24-22
That's an optimistic scorecard. Your margin of victory and ability to score has been shrinking for 3 years. This year should be interesting.
2001 24-10
2002 20-13
2003 16-13
I'll take SEC East champ over a win to Florida, but I still want the win. :)

Very interesting numbers. I should know; I rarely miss the opportunity to go down to J-ville. You're right. This year should be interesting. Not to mention the Dawgs have been given the greatest gift of all for a while now, which is the leaving of Florida's offensive genius, Steve Spurrier. Somehow you guys haven't taken advantage of this gift. Perhaps this is the year. But I doubt it. The problem with Georgia is they go into that game knowing they are going to lose. Mark Richt even knows it. That's what a loosing streak does to a team.
In regards to winning the SEC title, great. But I will say that the ONE team that managed to defeat LSU was in fact, the GATORS. I think LSU vs. Florida for the SEC would have been a lot more exciting. But it's football. Quirky things happen. It's the only theory I have that supports the ever-growing number of losses Georgia chalks-up when it visits Florida.

We beat LSU 17-10 earlier in the season. You're right, I too thought the departure of Spurrier would change things. Now we are getting Zooked!

If I remember correctly, UGA lost to LSU earlier in that season.

Sounds good. You'll have to gimme your cell # between now and then and we can meet up somewhere at the landing.
As far as the outcome of the game is concerned I really don't want to make any predictions because whenever I do it seems like I'm setting myself up to see my team go down. Whatever happens, happens. Lets let the final score of the game do the talking.
In regards to your statement about UF being the team that beat LSU, I completely agree. Florida should have gone to the SEC champ. game over us. But if you look at it from the flip side UGA won the Capital One Bowl and Florida got torn apart in their bowl game against Iowa. The way these teams played last season really fluxuated on a weekly basis. Consistency is king...
I'll be there at the game :)
zeit00 09-13-2004, 02:44 PM Wow.. you guys are serious about your curling... ;)
///M3Hellrot 09-13-2004, 03:01 PM Sounds good. You'll have to gimme your cell # between now and then and we can meet up somewhere at the landing.
This kinda made me laugh. The landing is not the place to meet. There are 10 billion people thrown into enough room for like 1000, but I'm sure you already know that. I think a friend of mine is going to have his boat docked right by the landing so that is where I will be most of the time except for the game.
As far as the GT and UGA games, Georgia Tech flat out got lucky that Clemson's long-snapper couldn't do the one job he is assigned to do....snap the ball above the ground. If the punt had gotten off or if the Clemson punter had just kicked it through the back of the endzone (giving Clemson a safety but still a 1 point lead) Clemson would have won. That being said, a win is a win, good job keeping it close and putting yourselves in a postition to take advantage of their mistakes.
I think UGA fought a little more to make their come back. They had a rough start on offense obviously, but once Greene got into a rhythm, were able to score 20 unanswered points. I was most happy with the fact that the defense played WAY better than it did against Ga. Southern. Problems: our freshman running back Danny Ware will be out this week against Marshall, but he will be back for LSU and Michael Cooper and Tyson Browning looked pretty good when they replaced him.
GO DAWGS!! :redspot
greateratlanta 09-13-2004, 04:05 PM Athens is going to absolutely explode on Oct. 2nd when those purple wearing fags come looking for an ass whooping. :evil2 Then again their purple and gold is no match for mullets, jean shorts, and puke orange shirts.

It's okay. Wishful thinking often ensues among Georgia fans when football is the topic of conversation. ;)

Definitely. To be perfectly honest, I go down to Jacksonville with quite a few Georgia fans whom I call my close friends. It's more fun that way I think. I'll send you a PM with my number and we will meet up for sure. Maybe not at the landing, haha, but somewhere. :D
P.S. - Like my new avatar? ;)
FAST5 09-14-2004, 01:40 AM Then again their purple and gold is no match for mullets, jean shorts, and puke orange shirts.
Hmmm...since we are playing the color-match game, is it fair to say that Georgia fans sport menstrual-red shirts? :dunno

Nope, but I definitely dig your sig!

BimmerDawg 09-14-2004, 11:57 AM A win is a win is a win...especially in the SEC...even more so on the road in the SEC.
USC is a better team than they are given credit for. And Columbia is a hard place to play. Hell, Florida was lucky to beat USC last year, so I don't wanna hear any shit about us squeaking by.
And oh yeah...
Clemson: :orangesle
Tech: :orangesle
:laugh
Ron17 09-14-2004, 12:05 PM Had UGA not let 16(!) points on the board in the first half, it wouldn't have been nearly the same game.
Yeah... and had USC not let 20 (!) points on the board after they went up by 16, it would've been a much different game.
I think it's pointless to make conjecture like this. The game played out how it played out, casting speculation to the disposal heap.

My only reasoning for the comment was the simple fact that UGA then went on to hold USC for the remainder of the game, scoring 20 unanswered points. I think that shows the type of team UGA is, considering the morale defeating 16 points early on. :dunno

Do I have to say it twice? Apparently so.
