I orderd an aluminum thermostat housing and Geba water pump from Zygmunt and the quality looks questionable. The pics may be a bit large, but its the only way I can show the details.

This is the aluminum thermostat housing. It looks scuffed and scratched up all over. Is it suppose to be like this?

Here's the water pump w/metal impeller. Everything looks great, but the texture inside the impeller looks very rough. The cut outs are also uneven.

I bought the same parts like 3 weeks ago. My housing wasnt like that. It looks used, I would return it.

I am not too sure about the water pump though.

Same here, I question their quality...check out my struts that i got from them. Oh yeah, the box I got from them was all TORE UP! I mean tore up, not just opened, it was like a used and abused box or something.

1st strut. Notice the chipped on the paint.

I have to give em credit that theyre parts ARE cheap. But the condition of some products doesnt look "new" upon receiving it. My dad even asked me if these were 2nd quality parts when he received them from UPS. I didnt even know if there is such a thing.:dunno

You paid with a credit card for these?

You might want to ask them if they'll stand behind you if the seller won't issue you a return authorization and a refund promptly.

i ordered an oem radiator from them. box was smashed a bit, but radiator was perfect.
ordered bilstein shocks/struts. again boxes were cut up and abused, but product still looked new.
i think its thier warehouse people or something, who cant afford anger management classes so take it out on the boxes:biglaughb
but the thermostat housing does look bad. about the water pump, if its a casting, smoothness is harder to achieve then if it would have been machined.

Ive ordered tons of things from them and have been satisfied. But now I do question if the thermostat housing is used? And I wonder if the metal impeller will peform optimally due to the course, uneven internal texture?

E36Eric, did u already install them on your car? That sux to order "new" parts and question if in fact they are new.

I ordered brake rotors and pads from them and everything arrived looking brand new and un-damaged. They seem like good people, I'm sure if you email them the pics of the box and part damage, they'll either refund your part or exchange it.

Plus, they ship really fast....

Would the rough texture effect performance of the pump?
thx

Have you called Zygmunt and told them about the problem? I would first be on the phone, not crying on an internet site, questioning their quality. The alum. housing has been used before. Someone probably returned it and they never open the bx and looked at the used part. I'm sure they will happily address your concerns, but, I would not be as eager to do business with you in the future for dragging my name around without first calling.

Be careful, people are very protective of the reputation they've worked hard to build.

Brian

No I havent called and Im hardly crying on this site about their products. I have posted several times saying how I appreciated their prices and services. But before I called, I wanted to make sure if this is the way an aluminum housing was suppose to be, being that Ive never seen one before.

And also regarding the water pump, I was unsure if the internal texture would adversely affect flow?

Thanks

Once again, I and many others have ordered many products from Zygmunt with no problems. Do not be afraid to order from them. This is just an incident I wanted to be clear on before I called and ask for an exchange. And I am sure they will gladly help me with this situation as they have in the past.

Brian,
I understand where your coming from. BUt I really didnt put too much thought in the title when I posted. Just wanted a quick response...

Now, about the housing... on the inside of the house, there were still small metal shavings like it was new. I can take pics, but it doesn't really matter anymore. I figured if it was used, the metal particles wouldn't be there.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that that housing has been bolted on to a car at some point.

The title of you thread doesn't read well for someone looking for advice as to receiving the proper part. It automatically puts Zygmunt on the defensive. And, come on, even a chimp can tell that the alum. housing is not the way it should look out of the box. If I ever had a question about the quality of a part I received, my first call would be to the vendor. Would you post here first had you not received the part? No, you would have caled and asked about it.

Brian

Hey, give the guy a break. He didn't know if there was really a problem with the parts and just wanted some expert opinions. It was a legitimate question.

I don't think a moderator should be comparing people to "chimps"! Very bad form!

Thx M3inSC

Well, can anyone tell me anything about the waterpump? Would you use it in your car?

Well, that thermostat housing most certainly looks used and abused. I would guess someone bought one from Zygmunt and returned it inserting their old one. Zygmunt must not have noticed, they would have most certainly never sent this out this way. Anyone would have none their was a problem without posting picutres to the Internet.

The pump looks new but the casting in the impeller is a little rough. I have seen new and used plastic and metal impellers but never a cast one so I can't really comment. You should have called Zygmunt and asked them. I would have done this before using it in my car.

My overall response is... if you wanted a fast response, you should have called the place you bought them from. Why would go to the trouble of taking pictures and posting them to this board before calling the vendor first. Overall, I agree with Brian in that your post was premature and can be misinterpreted.

I have ordered many parts from Zygmunt if I did not mind that they were aftermarket units rather than OE BMW parts. I have never had any problem with anything I have purchased from them. I plan to buy some Bilstein Sport shocks for my E30 325is from them this spring along with a few other parts and brake fluid.

No affiliation with Zygmunt, just a satisfied customer.

Best regards,

Rich D - Cleveland, Ohio

PS - Brian, how are you doing. I haven't spoken to you since you left you prior position. Anyway, hope all is well. Let me know when you want me to wring out some SO3s at Mid-Ohio some time in my '95 M3. I will be there in May.

Well, I havent installed the parts yet. I would've called if I was in a hurry, but Im not. I wont have time till summer.

Brian, since youre a moderator, why dont you change the name of this thread since its causing soo much commotion; really. Sheesh, I just posted to get some opinions; thats all. I wasn't trying to take down Zygmunt. And when you change the thread title, do you mind moving it back so that I could get some more responses on the waterpump?:devillook
