I have a quick question is some of you peeps can help me out here. I have a 03 e46 M3 and a friend of mine has a 02 e55 amg mercedes. He was saying he could waste me but and i told him no way. I know he has about 17 more hp then me but his car is also a 4 door which weights a lot. My knowledge about the older e55 is not that great and i do not know to much about them. What do you people think.

im pretty sure you would get owned on the highway, but i think you have the advantage 0-60 and through the corners. his car is fast but it handles worse than an E38 7 series.

The cl500 is up there hp wise as well. Yah this is a amg but it only has 350 hp and the car weights about 3800lbs.

KEVLAR has worked against an E55 on the road and like someone above said, on the straits it's all AMG power. But in the curves, the M3 will own it.

BEST MOTORing has a video that has the E55 and a CSL together and the E55 ends up last in the race.

Well, if you have enough room on the freeway, get a good draft on him, then pullout and sling shot passed him. Once you get a car length, get on your brakes to let him know it's over, otherwise his larger motor and hp will take over eventually and he'll pass you.

I raced an 04 E55, he put several car lengths on me from 70 to 130.
If the 02 E55 is the older motor (non supercharged) I think you should be able to beat him :buttrock

The 02 and older E55's have 361 horses and 391 Foot lbs. at higher speed 60+ he would pull on you all day :(

Yah he has the non supercharged 349hp one. If it was the new one forget it but its the older big heavy one.

People don't buy the e55 cause it can beat a M3 in the straight line or in the curves. Different buyer IMO.

Exactly. I think people know when they buy one that they have a car that is fast as hell, quite and comfortable. That to me is why to buy a merc. I wouldn't because 1. i love my M3 and 2. i prefer to DRIVE, not be propelled. :D
