I went today to drive a 545i and a Z4. I saw a few people from the BF up there, Wild Oats and somone with a Dakar M3.
They wouldn't let me drive the 545 because I am not 25, those bastards. I did take out a Z4, though. Fun car. I was surprised at nice it was. If only they would make an M Roadster out of it.
Anyway, who else went? What was your experience.
Peace Out, see you on the 18th.

I heard they did not do a Z4 based M roadster because they were selling so many E46 M3s that there was already a backlog on the motors. I do wonder however if when in the near future the new E90 comes out and we get a V8 M3 if they will retire the S54 motor or does that then free up motor production for a Z4M?

I drove by Murray and saw a bunch of people pussy-footing Z4's around.
THEN:
I saw Yoates' car parked on State.
I think I saw Silva's car on state too.
Then I drove by the Mall and saw Rouge's whip parked near Nordstrom.
Then I drove to Target and saw Marko's Avus up by that mexican joint near fort-union.
dA peeps are fuggin everywhere. :eek

What I posted on the "OTHER" original Ultimate Drive thread (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=240179) :stickoutt
Well the wife and I just returned from this. What a killer time indeed. It was a little different than I anticipated in that the drive time per vehicle was not an hour, but 20 minutes each and there was a designated route. The plus was that I DROVE THEM ALL! You were not just limited to what you signed up for!
The ratings on what I drove:
Z4 Auto: VERY impressive! I really underestimated this vehicle. I was definately impressed with this. I can only imagine how much funner it would have been in a 5 spd. This vehicle tops the scale in my "I had no idea" catagory. The handling is beautifully tight!
545i Manual: The clutch was very different and the overall feel of the car was, well, different. I liked it, but it definately did not have the "raw" BMW feel I am used to. Still a very nice ride though.
745i: WOW, can you say BLING BLING. Fast, comfortable, and $90K. I will look forward to it when I retire.
330ci SMG: Though a nice feel to it, the acceleration did nothing for me.
645ci: Oh wow, this is a beauty. Definately the nicest car I drove. Quick, superb handling, gorgeous lines, and convert. I was REALLY impressed on how this vehicle feels on the road and highway. Definately my top pick of the day.
I had no interest in any of the "X" models, therefore I didnt drive any.
Will all the new Bimmer's, I must say they are a pleasure to drive, but are definately more on the cush cush side, in my opinion they lack that good old BMW feeling I am used to. My .02 (as if you asked for it right? )
I saw Richard and Tony there, good to you see you guys.

Does anyone know the owner of the beautiful Carbon Black DINAN M5 that's around SLC. It was parked at this event yesterday and then gone before I got to see who's it was. As much as I loved all the new Bimmer's, I would much rather have this ride. :D

:lol I am so calling you Molly from now on! ;)
And I am always doing double-takes when I see another BMW, just in case. So there are probably a ton of guys (and a few girls) out there thinking I'm checking THEM out when it's all the car... :D

:round Silva and i went down to drive... he called me as i was shopping at Nordstrom.. we drove the 654ci and the Z4 ......i had previously driven the 645 coupe and the 745i when they first came out so i was used to the new supersized luxo feel of the new BMW V8... i could not agree more that the new bimmers are gorgoeus but i for one prefer the road feel of the older bimmers like the 540i circa 98' or the 750il circa 01' but hell ,its good to know that when you need a grand touring conv. you can pick up a 645ci.. but for 80 G.... i am not sure i would pay that much.. oh well oh and by the way... what happened to the dark color combos... i kinda do not like silver/topaz colors on bmw oh well hella cool times and for a good cause... :round
