Akebono’s advanced ProACT™ Ceramic Disc Pads

Has anyone tried these brake pads and can I solicit opinions on them? TIA

Absolutely the best all-around street pads I have ever used.

We supply them as options for the UUC Big Brake Kit - no squeal, linear pedal travel, almost track-worthy heat capacity, very smooth, and extremely low dust (practically none).

Get them in OE fitment from Tire Rack - http://www.tirerack.com

These pads are great... I use them as agressive street pads. I haven't had any problems with them. You squeeze the pedal... and they have always been there.

Will they work fine on stock rotors? (see as good/better then stock)

If their the ones I'm using at the moment then they are excellent.
But seems to need to be warmed up abit longer than expected before good stopping power!

But they don't seem to bite as hard as Hawks HPS pads.

But the ceramic ones are fine as I stopped in very short distances at high speeds when others racing me couldn't stop quick enough and was way over the line!

Thanks guys. Time to do the rear brakes and I am tired of the dust and the cleaning associated with it. Decided to put new slotted rotors on the front at the same time and put some better dust control pads on as well. Too bad they don't make the ceramics for the rear. Will use the Mintex red on the back with new rotors and the ceramics on the front with slotted rotors. Haven't got the money right now to go with Rob's big brake kit, but if I did, that is the way I would go. Best prices on the market for his big brake kit. Also am having to do tires now and decided to try the Pirelli P-Zero's to see if I can get a little better mileage than I got with the Michelin Pilot Sport's. These tires are quite a bit lower in cost. The feedback on Tirerack shows them about egual in specifications and in driver feedback. Thanks again.

Totally fine.

Haven't experienced the warming-up requirement... or if it's there, it's very minor.

But they don't seem to bite as hard as Hawks HPS pads.

Correct - initial bite is not as sharp as the Hawk HP-series, but the Akebono has a very linear and controllable friction curve. With the Hawks, you have to modulate your pressure more... the result is you press the brake pedal and then have to lift just to maintain a steady deceleration. The Akebonos slow the car very smoothly with constant pedal pressure.

Hmm.... Thinking about it now it makes sense!

Cheers Rob!
