Have some brownish gunk on one of my chrome tips that kind of softens into a goo when hot and solidifies when cool. Would Simple Green work on it? And whatever I use, should the tailpipe be hot or cool? Thanks. :)

After that all you need is some chrome polish to make it shine... Ben Carufel 09-04-2004, 11:04 PM When it's cool use your fingernail or a plastic edge (a credit card works) to chip it off. Then, while it's still cool, use some tar & bug remover to get the rest of it off. Follow with Eagle 1 metal polish wadding and this will be your result: http://members.roadfly.com/ucben/coupeexhaust.jpg Serious 09-05-2004, 02:28 AM toothbrush. jimmieboi 09-05-2004, 05:29 PM Thanks for all the ideas. I did try the soap and water when warm. Also tried the Simple Green - didn't do much. It's some really gummy resistent stuff, whatever it is. I'm thinking I'll try the straight plastic edge and use the bug remover to follow up next. Just slightly obsessed with it for some reason. Go figure. :rolleyes Akarimotorsport 09-06-2004, 12:06 AM use steel wool and paint thinner if you have it but wash with water right away. If you don't have thinner rubbing alcohol might work. The finest steel wool you can by. |
