I am looking into getting an X5, but i cant afford a new one with all the options so i will probably be investing into a 2000 or 2001, and i have not found one with all the options i want and its a bit discouraging. One main thing i want is the navigation, but i had a couple questions about it. If the x5 i buy doesnt have the navi or onboard pc or what not can i go to bmw and buy one from them and have them install it? and how much would that cost? another thing, does the navigation run off a dvd like most conventional navigations or is it 24/7 running off a satalite? Would it be possible to hook up a dvd unit and watch my dvd or what not off the screen? Are there any companies that make aftermarket products for the x5 so that i may add the navigation and possibly watch dvd and so on? Im a newbie to x5's so any information at all would be very helpful, ALSO between the 3.0i and the 4.4i is there a big difference power wise because i am the type of person who hates when a car lags, will the 3.0i be enough or should i shoot for the 4.4i? Whats generally a good price for a used x5 4.4i with navigation, premuim package, xenons and the cold weather package? Thanks!

The 2000-2001 NAV systems use CDs not DVDs.

You could retrofit your X5 to have the NAV system if you wanted, but the dash/screen alone are over $2k, not to mention the necessary drives/electronives to make it work. You'd be better off going with an aftermarket solution from Alpine.

Dude... get the 4.4, if you get the 3.0, you'll be marginally happy, but the 4.4 simply hauls arse! I got to auto-x one a few months ago, I was very impressed. Plus getting a ride with a professional driver on the auto-x in an X5... I thought the damn thing was going to flip... but it was stable and awesome.
