Anyone dealt with them?

What does everyone think of remanufactured engines? Sound like a good deal?

I'm just entertaining my fantasy here ... a faster car :D ... 92-95 325i/is engine : $3635 ... free shipping ... of course I'd have to pay labor :)

They also say no core charge ... what exactly is a core? Hah!

I'm looking at www.usedbmwparts.com under the engine section ... do you think they would buy my engine and transmission? How much could I get? I'd have to get a 5 - speed also .. if you're going, go all out right? :)

Just wondering how much this would all cost me .. could someone like spell it out in english for me like:

Bavarian engine exchange is probably one of the best bmw engine rebuilders, second to only BMW (obviously). If your going to get an engine from them you might as well go ahead and get the performance option for about $900 more b/c you get better heads pistons and a few other things good for about a 15% increase in HP.

I'd get it frm Bav, engine exchange, they are really good.

I was thinking about the performance upgrade, but we'll see how the funds are flowing whenever my engine dies :) I figure I've got at least 4 more years out of her (hopefully!).

We (babybluebmr and Myself) are currently in the process of suing Bavarian Engine Exchange for their defective engine. They refused to take the motor back after we had reported over 7 manufacture defects (which costs thousands in labor). After 1 year the engine was shot and we were forced to buy a used 325is engine.

I would stay away if I were you..they are heavily advertised but not heavily reccomended (catch my drift)...I would never reccomend Bav Engine Exchange (not even to my worst enemy....ok maybe):evil2

Well dealing with their customer service was good! I didnt purchase the engine b/c it was a bit on the pricey side for a 95-99 M3 engine. My advice is find a good used engine somewhere and rebuild it or drop it in if its in prestine condition. Buy from bavarian exchange only if you plan to do the work yourself b/c of their warrenty.

Widebody; even though its none of my business I am really curious as to what their reasoning was for not taking back the engine. All their ad's say " Satisfaction guarenteed!" I wonder why they didnt just send you another engine in replacement??!?

I know that Pablo Mazlumian of European Car used them when he blew up the 3.0 L turbo engine do to poor pump gas in the People's Republic of California. He had good things to say, and you may want to look in the archives on www.europeancarweb.com to see specifically. Granted, they are going to work hard for a magazine to get the good press out of it. But I have heard good things in Bimmer and Roundel as well.

Considering an engine for an e38 from them right now.

For an additional 25% they will offer a 'lifetime warranty', which seems like it might be a good call. Has anyone had occasion to use their warranty service?

If you haven't done so already- look somewhere else. Perhaps to a good local engine builder. At least it will be built to your specs that way. BavEngine exchange has not been honest in upholding their warranty statements and we are in the process of trying to recuperate a large amount of money from them for a string of faulty products. We've already lost a huge amount of labor in dealing with all of these junk products. It's just not worth the risk! The man in charge there (as far as we know) keeps giving the old up-yours and we're not too happy with them. We'll see if they actually deliver on any of the empty promises... but in the mean time I would not recommend them to anyone.

Geofftii ---- Any recommendations you can make on engine builders in southern NE? Central CT is ideal.
