The dust boots on the pitman arm bushing of the e28 looking like it is broken or coming apart.
How difficult is it to replace these bushings and/or dogbone? Is it just unbolt, remove and replace?

Yup. Nothing very difficult about it.
Helps if you use adjust the jack to the point where it looks like there's the least amount of stress on the pitman arm. Don't forget to note the locations of the washers that fall out - and bring a lot of muscle to the game. Those bolts are massive for a reason.

just get new pitman arms, they don't last that long in the first place and they are pretty cheap/easy... you can actually change them with the car on the ground on an E28.....
