Is it possible to use 17" RD wheels on an E28? I only ask because I have a set of 4 sitting around and would like to get new wheels (I have the old metric ones and the car's been sitting with a flat for - oh - about a year now).

I know the offsets are different (20mm on the E28, I believe, and 38mm on the rims - they were for an E36). If I buy 20mm spacers can I put these wheels on this car? I'm sure it'd be on the verge of making the suspension weird but it's an occasional driver and some use would be better than none.

Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

From Shawn D. on Mye28.com. Everything you needed to know about wheel/tire combos in the E28 is in here:

Seriously, this question has been asked a billion times...

You'll need a set of 20mm HUBCENTRIC spacers and longer lug bolts. 20mm is a HUGE spacer and I'd never trust my life to them, but everyone else seems to think it's a grand idea...

If you use (and manage to somehow find) a 20mm NON-hubcentric spacer, you're just asking to die.

If you're just going to drive it occasionally, that's probably better, though. :)
