View Full Version : E21 Impact on Bimmerfest
blitzed310 08-25-2004, 07:28 PM Of the 4 mags that I have covering Bimmerfest it is very apperant that we as a E21 community have made an impact on the Bimmer scene. Every article talks about the amount of E21's that showed up, even if it was only 8 of us.
Seems like this has never happened before at a car show? Either way I'm glad that people got to see the brighter side of the 1st generation 3-series. There's nothing I hate more than for our cars to be refered as the 2002 bastard child (I've heard this on several occations), so hopefully people will realize that these cars carry lots of potential and are a great car right out of the box.
Just recieved my Sept. issue of Eurotuner and I must say Jason your car looks tits. Great picture from the rear/side showing off those lovely Pana's.
Does anyone have any other mags that had our cars in them? I have the following: PBMW, Bimmer, TuNING WoRKS, and Eurotuner, I know there are more featuring the event.
I hope next year we can make more of a statement and roll out stronger than ever.
I dont like bragging and boasting but I guess its worth mentioning. The editors from Eurotuner have been in contact with me and within the next few months they would like to feature my car in their magazine since the farthest they've gone back with the Ultimate Driving Machine is the E30. I know Bimmerfest made an impact now! :)
that's awesome!
altho, crap, i still haven't seen the August issue of Performance BMW magazine......only Tower Record's seems to carry that magainze (and there's only two Tower Record stores in the city), and last time i called them they still had the July issue :(
i havn't seen eurotuner magazine anywhere in az....where can i get that september issue?
blitzed310 08-25-2004, 07:59 PM Borders, Barnes and Noble, Crown, TR, news stands?
Its very easy to find it here, if you can't find one I can send you out one
yeah, the borders & barnes & noble here don't carry Performance BMW
i'll try tower records again this weekend....if i can't find any, i'll let ya know :)
nice! somebody scanned the bimmerfest article from eurotuner: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=247500
btw, i think a big part of the reason the e21's were noticed/recognized at bimmerfest were due in part of CJ & Attila, whom helped get us into the show before they offically opened the gates (and that nice parking spot on the grass)
BoostedE21 08-26-2004, 12:01 AM Yeah I think the E21 were a great hit at the Fest, I to have been talking to PBMW and they too want to do a feature on my car and Cj's car. I'm just glad that we as an E21 group are growing and are get respect and attention. Hopefully next year we can have more E21's and I can talk to the guys again and see if we can get tight ass spots again. :redspot :alright
jjgbmw323 08-26-2004, 01:04 AM I opened up this months eurotuner and CJs car is there, and the other nice silver one with the pasports.
Nice work guys I am glad you got us some recongnition that we deserve and the cars are all very nice. The e21 can stop being the neglected child of BMW.
The white Hargte car at the show could very well be a feature in one of those mags.
Thanks and nicely done guys.
My car will someday be finished, but being out here in Boston,
I will have a hard time getting to the show, california is too far to drive.
but Maybe my car will make it into a magazine somewhere too.
take care,
Joe
TheNeek 08-26-2004, 02:17 AM I so should have gone. Damn school, I should just become a BMW bum, begging for change simply to work on my car.
BetaTested 08-26-2004, 02:27 AM I might be able to make it out to the next one, assuming I get off my ass and find an engine for my car.
Congrats to CJ and Jason. You guys should already know you've got pimp rides. Jason, I think, has some of the best original un-molested in any way paint among us. Mine is all swirlly and chipping and crap :( I don't bother to take care of it anymore because it's in such bad shape. And it's not like it's going anywhere that people will see it.
TheNeek 08-26-2004, 02:37 AM my car is sans-clearcoat. The roof and hood and now the trunk look HORRIBLE.
blitzed310 08-26-2004, 03:36 AM Yup, I think Jason remembers how amazed I was when I saw that OG paint...
uberpanzer 08-26-2004, 04:23 AM I didn't think these cars (at least most of the colors) came with clear coat? Something about the process that BMW used back then. Same is true on some of the e30 colors, as well as other older BMWs. Could be wrong though....
I think part of what made an impact on people was that we all stuck together that day, from parking on the grass to EVERYONE stopping for gas. There were quite a few times where I missed the boat (I'm always friggin' late!!!!), but as long as I could catch up we all were together. And THAT is what made us stand out from everyone else there. That, and we also had the largest group of older cars, most of which looked awesome (mine...uh, well..... :rolleyes ).
Anyway, I'm glad the e21 is getting coverage, let alone people we KNOW getting into magazines (Bimmerfest photos and otherwise). I've seen enough crap about the newer cars....they are a dime a dozen. But there are very few older cars that look nice and perform well. Most of us here have cars that fall into that category (whether YOU think your car looks nice or not....). Congrats to everyone!!!! :buttrock
eurospec1 08-26-2004, 08:46 AM CONGRADULATIONS GUYS!
Thats really cool getting featured in eurotuner, i would love to get my old beast in that mag (that is if its worthy) but its not gonna happen as long as my car is here in italy! So for now i just stick to spankin up on the unspecting locals in my little sleeper, congrats again!
BoostedE21 08-26-2004, 11:28 AM Eurospec, Hey man, did you ever make out here to Cali? I e-mailed you back.
Doug is right, All i hear about the E21 group is that we stuck together very well and parked together (let alone how nice the E21's were).
m42technic 08-26-2004, 11:31 AM I so should have gone. Damn school, I should just become a BMW bum, begging for change simply to work on my car.
Work is for suckers.
I can't wait till the next Bimmerfest... As of right now, the only E21 that was there that won't be there this time around that i know of is Max's... his was sold for his 6er which is SOOOO hot.... But this year should be bigger and better than ever... By any chance was my E21 featured in any of these mags??? Maybe featured is the wrong word... how about, were there any pics of it??? Once again though, congrats on the coverage everyone... that was a great day.... Hope to see some of you soon at the autox!

AE101 08-27-2004, 11:53 PM Such beautiful cars... You guys give me even more motivation to try to make my rebuild just as nice. I would be very proud, if I were you guys, as I am sure you are. :buttrock
CJ, I am very interested in your engine as I am considering doing a similar build up. Maybe someday, if you have some time, you could send me a nice fat email with every detail about it? :D
Andre

I'll do that, I'll even send you info on the rebuild that I will do in the next 6 months or so
well, encountered some good news & bad news....
good news, i got the Sept EuroTuner magazine :)
...bad news: i could've sworn i read that the bimmerfest article in Performance BMW was in the August issue :( so i never bothered looking @ the july issue (since, it seems only a couple stores in the phoenix area carry that magazine, and i only called them to see if they had the August issue available).
....so, i went to try & buy the magazine tonight....and found out it was the July issue that had the Bimmerfest coverage :(
can anyone still get the July issue of Performance BMW? or do i have to order it from them?
AE101 08-29-2004, 05:00 PM Much appreciated, CJ!
blitzed310 08-29-2004, 08:17 PM Jason I would order it only from there website through the back issue section, they are already on there September issue, sorry bro...
AE101 08-30-2004, 05:00 PM I checked their website, and couldnt find a back issue section, I went to www.eurotuner.com, am I in the wrong place? :confused
blitzed310 08-30-2004, 05:12 PM I was refering to www.performancebmwmag.com
AE101 08-31-2004, 02:54 AM oh, ok..
