Bimmerfest needs to be in like another 3 months damnit!!! And that is even too far away.

I've been actually doing work to the car and am itching to get back to SB after checking out some of the pics again. The one of Jonas talking with th CHP officer is classic.

Anyway, here's a shot I've got of the recent addition. TEP rear shock tower brace/battery relocation kit. It isn't fully done though, since I still have to wire it, but I misplaced the instructions and am having TEP send me a new set (so I don't screw anything up). Once I get this wired up I can remove the old battery tray and install the intake that I got from TEP at the same time. And then I'll start driving the car to work to get used to it before the autoX next month!

nic did a write up when he installed his TEP rear strut brace: http://www.bimmerboys.com/webpage/silverdust/mods/TEPstrut.htm

altho, not many people agree with the way the power wire was routed in nic's setup......the other option is to route it into the passenger compartment: thru the top, driver-side, corner of the engine bay, behind the dash, under the carpet & next to the driver's seat, kind of under & to the side of the back seat, and into the trunk.

OK, so I looked through his write up and I THINK I can do it. I still would like TEP to send me the directions, but they have only been open one day since I sent the request (Friday night). I'm going to be running the cable through the car itself, since I don't REALLY like drilling any more holes than I have to. Not to mention I am lacking a drill. Joey could help me again I'm sure, but if I can run it through the car and up through that hole (with a grommet already) that is at the base of the windshield on the driver's side, I should be fine. Besides, with the rear seats out I can get it through the interior pretty easy.

But one question, that he sorta covers in the write-up. Not sure if you know. Do I just let the other battery connections up front dangle around? I mean obviously I have to do SOMETHING with them, but what? I think I can probably just disconnect the negative lead from the grounding point, but does that do it for that? And then as far as the possitive side goes I'm pretty much clueless. But it is late and I tend to not try and think about this stuff until I'm already tired. Silly me!

The two battery cables are removable. You can unbolt both negative and positive and remove them from the car (I think).

YES BF is way to far away!! How about that E21 meet we were planning? We def. need that going!

I disagree, 7 - 8 months is hardly ENOUGH time. I have so much work to do.

lol, yeah, me too....got caught up working too much this summer (and then parying it up since my 21st b-day), so i haven't gotten as far as i would liked on my car.

doug, yeah, u can remove both the 'stock' battery cables.....the negative just bolts onto a grounding point right next to the battery (along w/ several other little grounding wires....don't forget to put that bolt back in to place), and the stock positive battery cable just bolts to the back of the starter solenoid.

Thanks for the instructions guys. I also just got off the phone with TEP (since I hadn't read this yet). They said the same thing, although minus the ground parts (I guess he forgot to mention those). But I had him send me the instructions anyway, so that I have them for the future (in case I never find the ones they sent me WITH the kit). I kinda wonder why they never answered the email though.....

As for not enough time....there is NEVER enough time. How many of us can ever see them self as saying that their car is REALL 'done'? There are always little things here and there that I want....or am I the only one? And I just don't mind driving it in this 'In Progress' state. Hell, look at the condition of the '83 when I took it to Bimmerfest this year!!!

You have no idea. I hope this thread gets buried soon so that it doesn't act as a constant remind of how far behind schedule I am.
