i got this error code on my Bavarian autosport fault code reader
chart: 11
fault: Fd
now, according to the instructions, i go to chart 11
and look for Fd in the manual
however, there is not a fault 'Fd' only a fault 'FD' in chart 11
is 'Fd' and 'FD' the same fault?
in all the other charts in my manual, 'Fd' refers to coolant fan final stage
however in chart 11, 'FD' refers to EVAP shut off valve stuck closed.

assuming it was the EVAP shut off valve,
i searched this site and found a few threads about it, but none with any solution?
does anyone have any experience with this fault and if so, how did you go about fixing it?
thanks in advance

I got the same code on my 96 M3. What my friend was telling me was that it's some sort of valve that opens to a charcoal canister to filter gasoline fumes from the gas tank. He doesn't know where it is on an e36 bmw, but on a VW its hidden in the fender somewhere. I'm not going to worry about it for now.

The valve ya'll are refering to is in the trunk of the car mounted on the r/h forward side of the charcoal cannister.Pull out the spare tire and take that 13mm nut off the stud that hold the spare tire down.Remove two plastic 10mm nuts at r/h side of the black plastic cover and lift the cover out.
There is the charcoal cannister. The valve is held in place by a torx screw.

Any idea how difficult/expensive this is to fix?
