I need to order some new parts but hate driving to the dealer EVERYTIME, which has been like 10 times in the last 2 weeks, just to figure out what a part is. The parts dept is never a quick trip. Is there a site online that has pics to help me identify what parts are? Where does everyone order their BMW parts?

Right now, I'm trying to figure out these two:

There's a number of good places on line to byu parts from, several of them are supporting vendors to this site and hence worth patronizing.

www.pelicanparts.com
www.bimmerzone.com
www.bimmerparts.com
www.eap4parts.com

A couple of dealers that sell parts on line are:
www.pacificbmw.com
www.circlebmw.com

It often helps if you know either the name or part number of the part you want. Getting a copy of the ETK - the BMW CD parts catalogue can be a big help. You can often find these on EBAY.

As far as the parts you pictured, they should have numbers on them that should help you ask for what you want. The second one looks like air intake.

You actually have 2 parts in picture A, the cracked part that looks like an accordion is known as the "alternator cooling hose". Most of the aforementioned sites should carry it for about $6.

Part B actually looks like an old, or new version of the air mass meter boot or sometimes call "air mass bellows" I think that they are 28 bucks at an OEM dealer, like I have a place called Metric Wrench who is REALLY good at getting parts the next day!

I found a local independent BMW shop yesterday that will not only match any online price I find, but he can have the part the same day if ordered before noon. I'm in Livermore CA if anyone's interested in the info.

By the way, how much does everyone tip?

the place is called EUROTECH german auto werks, 4043 first st. livermore, ca.
925.447.5934

By the way, despite what I wrote above, I've learned that some online prices are just way too low for them to match. So far, the prices at PelicanParts.com seem the most reasonable for them to match. I'm still surprised they can do that!
