Just curious whether anyone has done the M50 manifold on a Turbo car and has before/after results in comparison to M52 (no other mods in between). I've seen plots of N/A cars and Vortech SC cars... but I wonder what the effect on a turbo car might be. I plan on doing this mod fairly soon.... with before/after results.. but curious about what I might expect.
Also... anyone have before/after of removing the ASC T/B? Also on a Turbo'd car?
Thanks,
Boris

My friend owns a dyno and on his wife's M3(N/A) taking the ASC off had absolutely no effect on power. This was done back to back. I would assume it would be the same for a turbo car. I took mine off because it was a cleaner look and I don't like the car making decisions for me. One thing to consider with a turbo would be possible compressor surge when it is activated. A scenario would be this: Hard on the gas (floored), boost comes up, wheels start to spin ASC closes TB, and possibly causes surge because no vaccuum signal to open BOV(throttle still open). Of course maybe when the ASC shuts it causes a spike in vaccuum the same as when you shut the throttle and there would be no surge. Who knows, I can't speak from experience. My ASC was gone before I ever completed the turbo kit :D

Boris I see no disadvanatge as you are already making full boost by what 3000rpm so more air/fuel more power everywhere.
Make sense to do the mod. Dyno locally first and then do the manifold then the exhaust. :)
Not like a s/c setup set psi at rpm.

Isnt it possible that with the added flow produced by FI, what may NOT have been restrictive with an NA setup, would become so with a Turbo or SC?

Yes it could be possible that this would be the case. However if I'm to stay on top I can't give Borris all my secrets ;)

I'm going to be picking your brain as soon as my financial windfall comes to pass!
I keep kicking myself - on why I didn't go turbo sooner!!

So if I supercharge my car with the M50 manifold kit and software. I would have the same gains if I had just my regular M52 manifold?

Thank you for this thread Boris! I have been wondering about the M50 manifold for turbo myself. Unfortunately so far nobody has chimed in with any experience. I want to do a custom intake manifold. But it might be a few months before I have it done. I will be sure to dyno the car before & after without any other mods.
