This event is put on by NASA southeast. Track events are a blast and a perfect place to learn what is possible with your car without the hazards of mountains or oncoming traffic. I recommend NASA over PeachtreeBMWCCA for a few reasons. A) More track time, B) Cheaper cost, C) A little more serious, a few more freedoms, and D) More flexibility (if your car breaks down a few days before event, they'll probably credit you for another weekend).

Probably the biggest philosophical difference between NASA and CCA is that NASA has a racer's mentality while CCA is a little more sedate. That isn't to say NASA encourages wrecklessness while CCA imposes speed limits, but those who've done both know what I mean. I also like the flexibility of NASA, they'll work with you in a situation where CCA might tell you you're screwed out of your track fees.

Not to crap on CCA, but I probably won't run with them now that NASA does an event every few months.

Sounds interesting - especially since the 1 day price is $199. Can you elaborate on how much more track time? I would go for the HPDE1 this time so that I could have an instructor with me.

To be honest, it's very close to CCA maybe an extra 15+ minutes a day. I think they combine the last few sessions on sunday since they theorize everybody goes home early. I know last time I could have been out there from about 3 to 4:30 on sunday. One thing they did that was interesting was touring laps both in the early morning and luch time on saturday, nice touch that I haven't seen elsewhere. It's nice for the first session of the weekend to be helmetless with a pace car under 50mph.

It's nice to have the flexibility of going for one day, but is one day enough? :evil2

Thanks for the heads-up! Don't think my car will be ready by that time though, so don't want to push it. No way I'm going out on the track with 9in brake rotors and mismatched 500 treadwear all seasons. :)

Sean, I would put you up for the weekend but I'll be in Texas! hehe

You can check this out:

Anything Jefferson, Buford, or Braselton should be fairly close. (10-15 miles). If you need to be right up on the track, there is chateau elan but I think its megabucks.

I think I have heard bad things about the Holiday Inn express near chateau elan, stay away from that one.

I ran the last NASA event at RA and had a blast. I liked the fact that there were races that you could catch between runs. Unfortunately, I cannot make the next event due to work

SG_M3 - the two times that I have gone to RA, I've stayed at the comfort inn, which is about 5 miles from the track. Cheap at around $60/night and close.

Check out hotels in Oakwood, GA. I think most of the large chains have them there.
