My 89 325 track car (seen here) had a bit of an altercation on track two Friday's ago...front end damage.....it was towed to the bodyshop today for some stretching. Best guess is about $700-800 for straightening it out...fixing the grill...reinstalling the BMP Design bumper/spoiler...and painting the bumper.

Hope to get it back on track in a couple of weeks. Wish me luck.

And the car I hit...hard to see any damage huh? Well, his first estimate was $2,400 !!!!

at Thunderhill? Too green for Buttonwillow or Willow Springs. Nice to know it was only metal that took a hit.

The incident was when I was passing some slower Audi A4s....I was at the end of a group of faster cars...the lead A4 started moving over "before" I was past her...I was watching what she was doing and the Audi S4 in front of me hit the brakes hard...braking for turn #14. I could not stop fast enough to miss him...I do claim some significant responsibility for the incident...FACT: I hit him. Well, I definitely learned something that day.

Bad thing is that I was an instructor that day...not exactly a good example for my student. Ick!

Steve, have you got some friends at a body shop that you take the BMW to who will do "fix-it" type repair work for you? You don't want or need (I assume) a top-notch repair job, right?

Yes, I know three guys that own body shops...the guy that currently has my BMW is probably the least expensive of the three. I just want to get the radiator out of the engine bay..and be able to reattach the grill and bumper. I also asked him to paint my new BMP-Design integrated bumper/spoiler.. (btw, you can't believe the weight I saved by putting that thing on...stock bumpers are heavy..those shock absorber things behind the stock bumpers are kinda heavy as well)

This car has already been rolled once..has a new top on it...and it has a 1987 front end. I really don't care much about what it looks like...I just want to get it back onto the track.

Anand, after going to that event the last two years...I unfortunately can't make it this year. I think "S4Alex" is going...and "Dare". I don't know of any more. In the past years we had over 24 northerners come down for the event.

Ryan, I know Ali had been trying to sell the car for awhile...that is why I got him to deal on the price. To be honest..it is about ideal for what I want. I almost bought another really clean track car (GTI Cup car owned by Brett Erickson in Sunnyvale) but I would have been pissed if it got hit or damaged...it was almost concours clean. The BMW, on the otherhand, has had some major issues. If I wreck it...I can just walk away and not be that concerned about it. I only got the car for $5,700 (and got a new windshield out of the deal)
