Hey guys I have an 04 M3 with 700 miles so I'm still in the breakin period. It seams to have a lag on the bottom end (when i get on the gat it ginda chuggs at first then catches at 2500-3000 RPS or so)...will this go away after breakin or is there a way to overcome short of using launch mode? How do I get a fast start? Take of DSC?

It's not a lack of power below 3000, it's just that over 3000 rpms, the car makes that much MORE power. If you want a faster start (I'm assuming you have SMG cause you mentioned launch control)... just put the pedal to the floor. The car will raise the RPMs accordingly and drop the clutch.
The higher your SMG mode, the harder the car will launch... if you feel safe turning off the DSC, go ahead... but be prepared to catch the rear cause it's going to step out on you.

If I were a bettin man, I would say you are shifting too soon.
The higher the rpm's when you shift, you set yourself up for the powerband of the next gear.
Of course, that doesn't make a good solution for 1st gear but once you are moving...

yea. bump up the smg level and hold onto the gears longer.

Thanks for the good advice!!!!

Haha yeah isn't that the truth. I have finally got to the point where I can tell that <3Krpm really feels like the car is slugging even though it's really doing great.. I guess that's just the price of a motor that redlines at 9Krpm... If you are driving on a track or something where it counts, the car won't see much below 3KRPM anyway... but it will get to see 8KRPM unlike most of the other cars rolling around :D

After your 1200 break in period, you may want to use "sport mode" if you want aggresive power without slaming on the gas all the way.
