is OEM? Is there an aftermarket source?

After some hail damage, my hood was replaced and now I have a serious dent in the front, after a very minor stone chip. Right in the center, between the grills.

I'd like to know that the materials used by the dealer were original quality.

Thanks!

...yeah, me too... I have a serious dent right below the roundel. To answer your question, I am not aware of any other source than OEM for a hood on the 7. ....to double check, I recommend calling a body shop in your area that specializes in BMW's and ask.

Cheers,

I empathize with you...I think the leading edge of our hoods is just a bit delicate. My '00 is peppered with dings and serious stone chips acquired in the last 6 months I have owned the car from my mostly highway driving.

I hate the way bras and other aftermarket protectors look so I just live with it, but know that a hood repaint will be something I do in future. I think others have gone for the repaint/repair in this area too.

After my repaint, I will go with the StoneGuard product. I have seen this on Mark Wong's car and you cannot see it unless you look closely. If this had been applied when the car was new, I would not be getting estimates for a repaint...

Cheers.

Where does one get StoneGuard bought/installed? I will definately do this once the dent is fixed. On that subject, I am concerned about the stuff lifting the paint on the re-painted section....
