View Full Version : Will my car pass MD emissions...with the tranny swap? Preppy 07-20-2004, 10:17 PM it says on their site that if my check engine light is on, I automatically fail emissions. and i think my check engine light is on from my swap, but i remember Pat telling me he removed the bulb :help dcardenas 07-20-2004, 10:18 PM No idea. Preppy 07-20-2004, 10:21 PM Asshole. I am taking it in the morning. I need to know now so i dont waste my time. dcardenas 07-20-2004, 10:28 PM Slip a C-note to the emmisor (I made that word up). BGReddy00 07-20-2004, 10:33 PM if you can find someone with a pgm they can clear the light as long as theres nothing else, im a manager at honda of annapolis i know one of the machenics has the pgm clear thing for bmws on his palm pilot its gotta be easy to find someone with it Preppy 07-20-2004, 10:46 PM the peake reset tool do that too? Mwhip cleared something for me earlier (i think it was the check engine light)....would that be enough to do the trick? MWhip 07-20-2004, 11:03 PM No worries :)....from what i remember it said that the light was out not that something was tripping a CEL light...think it read that there is no bulb in the cluster but the engine was clean..:)...let me know what happens and if you fail you can borrow the tool....Good Luck. Preppy 07-20-2004, 11:47 PM Awesome. Thanks Brian :) NYQUEENZ 07-20-2004, 11:50 PM it says on their site that if my check engine light is on, I automatically fail emissions. and i think my check engine light is on from my swap, but i remember Pat telling me he removed the bulb :help Preepy i wanna feel yur clutch and see how it compares to my clutch.. Just checkin out Pro-imports services Preppy 07-20-2004, 11:55 PM We'll check it out on Sunday man. I got your call yesterday, but I dont have Branko's address either, so shoot him a PM. Pino 07-21-2004, 12:31 AM i passed without them doing any tests.....and you DEFINATLY will. They'll pass you right off the bat because ur too low to get onto the dyno. Dont worry about it, the slackers will let you go Preppy 07-21-2004, 08:42 AM Haha, yeah, what a waste of my time. They waived my car off because it was too low. I'll have to bring it back in two years from now......and I didnt even get charged the $14 fee :) Andy 07-21-2004, 09:24 AM Haha, yeah, what a waste of my time. They waived my car off because it was too low. I'll have to bring it back in two years from now......and I didnt even get charged the $14 fee :) WHAT THE!!! I have heard them doing that many times. Why would they let a lowered car pass?? Generally, lowered cars are the ones that are modified. I wanna know who the person that came up with this idea is. Chris, your car is ODBII, right?? They don't need to run it on the dyno. They should only have to plug in their meter into the OBDII plug on your car. That's what they did with mine. :dunno. Glad everything worked out for you. vjlax18 07-21-2004, 09:32 AM Waved off my wife's car. Preppy 07-21-2004, 10:20 AM Yeah, I even offered to back my car in from the other side to avoid the dyno, but they said it's policy not to allow cars to back in. I mean, I was trying to see if my car would pass legally, but they insisted I just take a piece of paper into the front desk to pay....and then it turns out I didn't even have to pay! Preppy 07-21-2004, 10:39 AM WAIT A TICK......since they didn't even bother to touch my OBD port....should I risk it and try to go OBDI swap???? vjlax18 07-21-2004, 11:01 AM No, because the dyno lane will be missing the next time you have to go to emissions. Most cars will be 96+ by that time (10yrs after 96) and they will most likely have pulled the dyno out of all but one or 2 lanes. Mikey52 07-21-2004, 11:01 AM WHAT THE!!! I think for most stations, you have to drive over the dyno rollers to get to the OBD2 scanner dealie. I know lots of people who got a free ticket because the cars were too low. MWhip 07-21-2004, 09:14 PM Lucky u Chris :).....my engine check light comes on once in a while cause one of my O2's are kinda jacked.....i just cleared it and my car isn't even lowered...but they passed me cause I only have the 20 pin circle port and they don't have an adapter for it...so they just took my money and let me go .....oh well....:) 1996 328ti 07-21-2004, 09:29 PM I had my fault codes written out of my software. A missing CEL will also throw out a fault code. My car passed somehow a few years ago. I didn't want to chance it again. You are taking a risk in this area doing an OBD-I conversion. Why do you want to convert it anway? Preppy 07-21-2004, 09:39 PM Cause I am crazy. I doubt I'll change it to OBDI BGReddy00 07-22-2004, 12:38 AM so do you guys just have to get emissons done every 2 years nothing else? Ive lived in Maryland for a few years, but my cars never been registared here..I moved from New York and we had like these inspections every year, it was a pain to get like legal tint and stuff, I registared my car in Florida since I live there 9/months out of the year..but they have no emissons or inspection thing you have todo.. tEckniks 07-22-2004, 01:25 AM this will make you pass emissions... Bav///Man 07-22-2004, 01:50 AM Kick ass, Chris. :buttrock I'm DEFINITELY going track pipe now. 1996 328ti 07-22-2004, 06:28 AM MD has a one time inspection, which IMHO is stupid. People don't take care of their cars. Blown bulbs, bald tires. There is something to be said about having a car looked at. But yearly inspection is open to corruption. When I needed my Corvair inspected I didn't even bring my car to the gas station. ;) In MD we also have emission inspection every 2 years. ex NYer. |
