I repalced my traction struts, put h&r's in and got an alignment, 2 months later i get a nasty shimmy only when braking from 65-45. What are the symtoms of failing tie rods/ centerlink?

Could be one of the following:

Control arm bushings (most likely - I would replace the entire unit)
Rotors (possible as well - but you would probably notice it at all speeds)
Bent rim or tires out of alignment (might be more noticeable when braking)

If you have more than 50k miles on the control arm or thrust arm bushings, replace em.

Cheers,

Well i just put my new complete traction struts in, i think that would be the lower c/a... the car feels really unstable at times kinda like riding on rubber stilts, its all over the place. New tires on rear, probably failing rear balljoints, as for the front do you think it could be upper c/a's? Had wheels checked and there true

Yes - upper c/a's

actually i had the same thing not too long ago and i changed out lower & upper c/a's but also the sway bar links...so you way wanna do that too.

HIJACK: now i'm experiencing a little more feedback than i should in the steering when i go over medium bumbs and the sound of my front tires bouncing around...is that a sign i need to change out the tir rods/centerlink? odd thing is, when i go into "s edc", the bouncy feel in the tires goes away. i was thinking springs...maybe because that would give me an excuse to go ahead and get the uuc's:D

I'd say go for the springs :D

Uhm, since S EDC works with the shocks/struts, may I suggest you start there...?

And I'm with Jack, get the springs!

well i asked Rob a while ago about the same problems and he said if the s edc is working properly it's not the shocks...so i'm assuming it's the springs. i was walking up to the car today and i REALLY hate how high the front is...but it must level out or something driving cause everyone i see on the street looks lower.

well as soon as i replace the tires, the uuc's will be on order.
