Hey do you guys think that this car is worth getting if i can get it for like 1,000 to 1,500. This is the extent of the rust do you think that it will be eaisly repaired? Any other comments would be greatly appreciated, i am probably buying it this weekend.

It all depends how much money you want to put into it. The surface rust in the pictures won't be hard to remove with a proper paint job and he said the clearcoat is going to this wouldn't be a bad idea but it will cost about $1,000 to have a proper paint job and to remove the rust. The rust in the trunk can be fixed with a new spare tire well from 2002AD.

The problem with rust on 2002's is that there is always more than you can see in the pictures. Before you buy this 02 get pictures of the rear shock towers underbody and inside all wheel wells.

The AC even when working will not be like an AC in a newer car, I've met 2 people who have a cold blowing AC in there 02's. You can get a new aftermarket AC that will blow cold air but I'm not sure of the prices. Just remember the stock AC works like a mouse blowing on a snowcone from what I've heard about them at their age.

I think a fair price would be about $1000-1500 because it will need some work. Post this question on http://www.bmw2002faq.com/talkshop/forum/ and you will get more advice about what to do. Also, someone there can probably go take a look at it for you.

Hope this helps!

Amen!!!

As far as the A/C, my '74 tii had a Behr and it was cold as hell. I'll have to question why a west coast car has so much rust. After spending $30,000 on a complete restoration on a California car (no longer mine :( ), I get sick to my stomach to see all the rust on that 02.

If you want to keep the car for a long time, the rusted panels should be replaced or the Rust will come back.......I bet my life on it :stickoutt

Good luck and sorry you've fallen victim to the '02 charm

The car is in Washington and the Pacific Northwest gets a bit of rain (think Seattle). If I remember correctly it has rained for 31 days straight in Seattle. Either way once you get your first 02 you will want more, I've had three.

Stay away,..... Not worth it.

all you will end up doing is, spend money , money money money, money and more mone on it.

You are better off, put a little more, and get yourself a better shape one.

Good Luck.
