this is a question for all the guys who own 2001 and 2002 M3's.
how much has it cost you to own the car so far? is it a pain in the ass as far and maintenance is concerned? i know you get free maintainance and a huge warranty. but outside of that, have you had to replace anything that wasnt under waranty? clutch? anything like that?
im also wondering what its like as a daily driver, is it kind of a pain in the ass or is it really easy to drive everyday?

I drive my car every day since day I bought it... no problems.
Maintanence is a paid for the first 3yr/36k miles if it's an '01 or '02 and 4yr/50k miles if it's an '03, '04 or '05.
After the maintanence contract is up... you can pay extra to extened it or you can pay out of pocket each time you need service.
Depending on your driving style... this is the MINIMUM recommended service.
15k miles - oil change - $225 (8 quarts of 10W-60 oil + filter + labor)
30k miles - inspection 1 - $1200 (lots of things... including valve adjustment and cam adjustment i believe)
45k miles - oil change - $225
60k miles - inspection 2 - $1400
restart
now, that is very dependant on how you drive, the car will calculate your service intervals based on a variety of factor and display the miles till your next service on the intrument cluster at startup.

My car asked for service as follows.
9k - oil change
20k - inspection 1
32k - oil change
43k - inspection 2
54k - oil change
this does not include the mandatory break-in service at 1200 miles.

Wow Kev, you pay a lot for an oil change. I have lucked out with the dealerships around here. One of them runs a coupon for a synthetic oil change for about $65 for all 6 cyl engines. I called to make sure it included the 10w - 60 oil, and it does.
I asked my dealership if they would match the coupon and they said yes. I haven't paid more than the mid $70s for an oil change, which is strange considering they charge about $8 per liter of oil.
Can't remember, but do they do anything else on the scheduled oil service?

I didn't say that what I pay ;)

What is happening there is ... the sales staff or advertising staff hasn't been updated yet. They have those coupons out there and they have to offer them, basically the dealership is losing money on that oil change. It happens all the time, my service advisors tell me that people come in with coupons for a $45 oil change and they have to honor it or it's false advertising blah blah blah and they are constantly screaming at the advertising department to get their act together.
