Ok. I told this story in another forum but now that this new section has opened up....

I took delivery of a 2002 M-Coupe (yeah, the one with the 315 horses:buttrock ) on December 28 2001. The dealer who I rode with on the test drive was a nimrod, no idea about the car's features or differences between the 240 ver and this one! I won't name hime because I figure he has enough problems as it is..heh.

Anyway... several hundred miles later I'm pull'in over to check if the wheels are loose or if I've got a broken sway bar!! The car rides and handles like crap...scary fast crap! I don't have to mention what this baby cost me and I am pissed! I figured that I should have driven one longer before runnin out to buy one but I've had a few Bimmers and I wasn't worried.

I started to make plans to dump the thing and cut my losses...then 1200 mi came up and it was time to go to my local dealef for service (Manhattan BMW; excellent BTW) I turn over the car and at the end of the day they call me and tell me........drum roll please.........

The rear shock spacers were left in from delivery! TaaaDaaa...not only that, my rear diff was leaking and the axle had popped out of its mount on the right side!

:complain

Man, what a mess. The service manager was trying to calm me down by tellin me how lucky Iwas to be alive....like if I had bumped a low curb or median at speed the axle probably would have seperated from the car!!! I would have snap rolled into the weeds!!

Anyway, life is better now. The car is great and no harm no foul BUT:

STAY AWAY from Wide World of Cars, Spring Valley NY

Keep em in the road...:evil2

WOW!!! That really sucks! I bought my 2002 325XI from them last Oct. after visiting every BMW in the Tri-state are and found them to be the most helpful, polite, and had by far the best price. I hope this is not a sign of things to come when I need to go back for service...

They were very polite, they had a reasonable price BUT...

Beware that service department!

I spoke with a customer rep at BMW NA the other day and things just might be improving at that dealership as we "speak".

Keep em in the road...:evil2

Bmw of manhattan excellent service???????????? YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING DON'T GO TO BMW OF MANHATTAN FOR SERVICE EVER!

They scratched my car, put the engine back in crooked and damaged the volume/cruise control controls not to mention gave me a loaner car with a flat spare tire and a dozen other things wrong with it, had to have it towed back. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Wide World of Cars has been purchased by the New Country Auto Group - that will help with any issues.
