OK, last night I was feeling industrious and decided to take everything- I mean everything-out of my trunk. The rear covers for the tail lights, everything. I drive to work this morning with the seats folded down and no radio to see what the deal with the rattle was.

Guess what??!!!

It's the rear brake pads. THe rattle was always noticeable over bumps and at low speed on rough secitions of road. If I so much as touched the brake (while still maintaining my speed) the rattle disappears.

Are there shims that I can use on the pads? I have already tried brake quiet and never seize. I gotta get rid of this damn rattle.

Thanks!

How old are the spring clips on the calipers? They're cheap and easy to replace, p/n 34 21 2 227 671, need one per caliper.

Also, if you feel like it, get some Sil-Glide or comparable silicon-based brake parts lube. Smear a layer onto the pad backing and the edges of the backing "ears" that contact the caliper. This will eliminate any brake squeal. No squeal? Then just leave it alone.
