If you look at those vents near the windshield you'll see that they are not functional at all. The weatherstripping acutally seals it off from the engine bay. .

I just did a quick photoshop to clarify any confusion.

The CF hood offered by emotionGarage will come vented and non-vented. THe picture below shows both versions with a line down the middle of the picture to distinguish the differences.

I'm 98% sure I am in on this for a coupe.

I really want one, but I don't know how good it'll look on my alpine white m3. What do you guys think? It is all painted white, with a rieger infinity 1 kit. I'm also planning to buy cf front grills, and cf front splitter, and gunmetal rims. Do you think that will look good? I've even thought maybe I'll buy the hood, paint the sides and just leave the middle portion cf, but then that might not look good. Couldn't you use both hood shocks or whatever they are called (those things that hold the hood up) since it isn't a 100% cf hood?

I just woke up, (I worked Noc shift today, hehe.

Anyways, you can use the stock hood shocks, check my thread on the body and stylin forum, the link is amoing the first 5 posts on this thread complete with pics of it installed. My hood was slightly raised above the fenders, so I adjusted the hood latches to be shorter and it pretty much solved the problem.

Is the liner under the re-useable with these hoods? Are there inserts already cut for where the roundel goes? And can I definately use my hood shocks the same way I do know?...no funny hood pins

While hood pins are "recommended" per se for any CF type hood. I've brought the car up to 130mph and the hood was not flopping at all. The bmw stock latches are pretty good. I believe one of the reasons that cause these hoods to flop on say cars like the civic is because there is only one hood latch instead of two like the E36, causing an uneven locking force.

You're more than welcome to call the shop up to pay directly with a credit card for the hood. I know that they accept money orders, cashier checks, paypal, credit cards.

I'm SERIOUSLY considering a 2-door vented also. I'm just trying to research about C/F hoods. Can anyone compare this one to some others I can get and how much of a savings this is? Also, I know I don't have to paint it so it should be almost rock chip proof right?

I spoke to eg and they informed me that there is going to be 2 month lead time before they will get any in stock. :( However, if theres still interest in the hood then they will uphold the same price when they do arrive.

and this hood is the EXACT same one that wily///m3 has on his car, so i know it fits well...


let me know if there is still interest in this option because these hoods are available to be shipped ASAP. ALso, maybe rivets can find out if he can get the price below 400 since we have to wait (if we decide to go with EG).

Try reading back on the post. The price is $300 + tax for pickup so around $325. And Im not sure if it will include install but I highly doubt it. The install looks pretty easy so I was thinking that maybe everyone who is picking one up could get there at the same time and help each other just install it there or something.

Hey Bro, add me to the 4-Door Vented list... when do you need deposits? I just a BIG ASS rock chip in my hood, and a seven y/o hood has lots of pits in it now anyways, so 300 for a CF is a damn good deal, even it it isn't PURE CF. Is the CF on top of metal framing, or is it metal framing, then sheet metal, THEN CF? Thanks for the info, and the GB!

OH, BTW, I am starting up a GB on interior kits made from pure materials, not laminents. I'll post a link to the thread - not trying to plug or anything, but it's for E36 so I thought there might be interest...

Also, a quick tip: Put the CONFIRMED list in the FIRST post... then all you have to do is edit that post, and peeps always know where the list is at... can you tell I've done GB's before? :D

I don't know about the other guys but I'm local so I can pick the hood up. Also, I've seen the fitment firsthand and know that its good stuff. Also, having the extra time to gather up some cash is nice. I don't really need a CF hood right NOW but I will want one when these arrive.

That is correct. eG won't be offering any installations on these hoods. The garage is always tied up and the shop is always busy. I'm sure they won't mind if we have some sort of mini-meet to help each other w/ the install. :devillook

Most of the people buying the hoods with the wait are buying them for $300 due to pick up. Plus these hoods have vents and I dont believe the others do, not to mention the fact we dont know much about the other hoods. I also believe the guy said $375 shipped LOCAL. So who knows how much it otherwise, but I may be mistaken.

If you read back in the thread, this hood has already been tested at over 120 mph with no shaking. Hood pins are not needed.

I guess this hood is just to look cool, because no one seems to care about how much it weighes. I think a stock hood covered in CF Vinyl would be cheaper for that affect...

Actually i was wondering how much it weighted... but i couldn't find any info on that. So i just assumed that if it is fiberglass shell covered with CF, it would still be significantly lighter than stock.

i talked to will today over at emotion garage and he said that he needs atleast 10 people to pay up front to order the hoods. he said though that youll have to wait two months till the shippment comes in after that...he also said he will take back the hood if it has major problems (cracks, large bubbles, etc.)...i told him we have more than enough people for the 2 door vent. i dunno about the other models...i think he needs more people tho

I can tell you a stock 4 door hood weighs 37 lbs.
A different full vented CF hood I have , with Aluminum reinforcements weigh in at 17 lbs.

This has to be one of the worst fuckin threads I have ever seen. Who is stupid enough to pay in advance, for inventory that doesnt even exist, and the shop needs a minimun of 5 of each style of hood for 2dr & 4dr e36's? I mean, just buy one and get it over with. Whats $25 for 2 months of bullshit?

Will did offer to take the hoods back if there were any imperfections with them. It doesn't mean that the product is inferior, take a look at RRdawho's review on it, it just means that emotionGarage will go the extra step to make sure that the customer is satisified.

If he orders 30 hoods, which is the minimum that he has to order to bring the cost down, and everyone backs out on it then you tell me who gets screwed. emotionGarage is far from being scammers. They're a legitimate brick & mortar store with high recognitions from VW crowd and the likes.

Just a FYI, the shop didn't want to do the GB. They were APPROACHED and REQUESTED to do it. If you don't like the terms/conditions I would suggest that you jump on M3jon's gb. As for myself, I'm sticking to this GB regardless and the 1 1/2 month wait.

Also, they just need a total of 20 hoods. Doesn't matter what type they are. Just 20 is needed total.

Ok guys heres the deal. I just spoke to them today and they said that the deposit for the hoods will be $150. However, we need to get at least 20 people of any hood to do this or they are just going to forget it entirely. Also we need to get them the money before Aug. 28th to give them enough time to get us the hoods on Sept. 15. M3Jonif you could post your GB again on a new thread that may be a better bet for the people who are having it shipped. Here is the list of the people remaining but if we dont get 20 its a no go.

yes, will and EG are 1000% legit.....i hope this gb goes thru, its such a good deal...c'mon guys, 2 months isnt that long...at such a great price for a carbon fiber hood....and ive seen rrdawhos? hood in person and i say it is perfect quality. and if there is something wrong w/ it he'll take it back....he wants to satisfy all of his customers 101%.....

Guys the sooner we get 20 people to commit and downpay the sooner we get the hoods. It does not have to be the 28th, it can be sooner so we get the hoods sooner. It only takes them about 2 weeks to get the hoods in but we need the 20 down payments in order to do so. So please try to get more people into this group buy so we can get the hoods sooner. Please post on other forums this gb if you can or any other way to get the word out.

You stated that there was some minor drilling /modification that needed to be done with your install. Can you be more specific about what had to be done to get the hood to fit properly? I'm sure it something most body shops will be able to handle, but I'd like to know going into it what might need to be done.

yea, i saw rrdawhos? hood in person, and id say that it fits perfectly...it uses stock shocks and hood latch....and the vents are open

If you check the pics none of them come with those slats. However, they are said to have pretty much no use.
