JamesM3M5 02-20-2002, 04:34 PM Sometimes the glue that holds the plastic motor case together gets old and the actual motor leaks. I've been able to take the motor casing off and reseal it with a thin coat of silicone. Maybe that will solve it. JamesM alp2 02-20-2002, 11:26 PM thanks for the reply, but it is definately the male part that plugs into the tight rubber plug. i will just keep fixing it every weekend until i run out of silicone..thnx Stockman 02-20-2002, 11:40 PM if its a seal problem I would try putting some sort of sheath type thing over the male part to try and get a tighter fit :dunno alp2 02-20-2002, 11:48 PM any ideas on a sheath? i am spent on this one. this weekend I might coat the male part with silicone, and allow it to dry completely. then put it through the rubber. jb325 02-21-2002, 01:06 PM Try Permatex Ultra Black to bond (not permanent - you could take it apart if you needed to later) the two pieces together. It works wonders on boats and I've used it to seal vacuum lines. Should work no problem. alp2 02-21-2002, 05:42 PM great..thnx ... where is the best place to find it? boat marine shop or auto parts house? jb325 02-21-2002, 07:57 PM Autozone has it for $3.99. just put it on one of the ends, put it together and let it sit overnight or at least a few hours. then fill it up and try again. i think it'll work. alp2 02-22-2002, 12:34 AM koool...first thing saturday.....thnx jb325 02-22-2002, 10:47 AM alp2, the other thing you could try is some 3M marine adhesive/sealant. This stuff is incredibly tough and i use it on every part of my boat that is in contact with salt water. it seals up that hatch beautifully. The stuff I use is 3M Marine Adhesive/Sealant 5200 Fast Cure - take your pick in black or white. You can get it at any Boat US or WestMarine. You might want to try that first, instead of Permatex. Plus, it stays pliable and rubbery. Just a thought I had this morning....Good luck alp2 02-22-2002, 10:51 AM best place for the marine 5200 by 3m? jb325 02-22-2002, 12:16 PM "Boat U.S." or "WestMarine" or any other boating place should have it. It is really popular in the boating world. About $10 for a big tube, $5 for a little tube. |
