Seems there are a lot of tire dressings sold in the different stores.

But the stuff that the dealers use seems to look better and last longer. Would like to get some input from the forum on how to get some of this stuff, or do they make it themselves>

Look for a gel/wax type stuff... spray on is worthless...

I had some that you had to use a sponge to apply and it would last a long time.. I dont remember the name of it though

Meguiar's makes something like that, think its called Endurance or something like that. I heard it's pretty good, but I haven't tried it yet.

How about asking the dealer$hip what they use? That'd be an interesting exercise in itself.

If that doesn't work, I can ask our local "touchless" carwash what they use. It last a bit, although rarely more than two weeks...

Is it true that using tire dressing products too much can damage you tires, i spoke to a tire supplier and he told me of a guy who used back to black on his tyres regularily, and it cracked all the rubber in his new Yokohamas after like three months.

How come or is it a crap product he was using?

Can tire dressing products damage your tires?

Try Vinylex by Lexol. Sold in a blue bottle. Gives a nice shine and lasts a very long time.

I use Kitten Tyre Black. It comes in a can and you have to apply it with a paintbrush.
It's rather messy and if you get it on the wheel (which you will), it must be wiped off with a damp cloth, pronto. Also, NEVER get it on the paint (I did, on a white Peugeot while doing the mudflaps, and to this day the black streaks are still there.... >:( ).
It lasts for AGES and I just use the cheap spray stuff on top of it every month or so to get rid of accumulated dirt and keep my Pirellis gleaming.

i only use griots vinyl and rubber dressing, keeps em looking satin new looking. some dressings are very bad for your tires, alot of the cheap stuff has silicone in it. my detailer told my dad about some rub on stuff that takes like 20-30 min of rubbing but last for a long long time and is good for the tires and they look shiny but not wet. as soon as i find out the name i will post it

TurtleWax has some gel/liquid wax type of product, rub a little in, let it sit for 5 mins, then use a towel to rub it some more and it shines up nice, not wet/mirror looking, but nice, rich dark shiney black, and it lasts a long time, the longest I went between washing my car was like 3 mos, and they still looked like I just did them...

It was cheap stuff too, got it at Target of all places... :alright

I use the STP Son of a Gun SPRAY!!!

It goes on in less than a minute for all 4 tires, and it lasts the 1 week between car washings just fine. Has never hurt any of my tires.

Am I missing something?

No, If you are using the SPRAY, your not missing ANYTHING!! your getting it all over your wheels, and probably your paint too!! MMM Brake dust LOVES to stick to the tire dressing overspray on your wheels!!

Ive used Black chrome with great results!

I've been using Eagle brand tire stuff (with those funny-looking Nerf applicators) and they've been looking okay. Not as deep a black as the carwash, but not bad. Seems to last a couple of weeks.
