Only on a small number of 735i's. I don't think any of the iL's had manuals. 735iL's were discontinued in 92, not sure about the i's. The 3.5 has a huge following but the 740 or 50 really makes it perform with the added power.

Thanks, I wanted to confirm this. I think I recall seeing an '89 MT E32 some time ago.

I believe the rare 5 speed 735i's (no iL's that I know of) were available from 1988 to 1990.

Thanks. Hmm. . .I wonder what the performance compared to a 5 would be. . .maybe similar to a E34 525i?

I am fairly sure of the following, however I am over 40, so I could be mistaken......When I was a baby Bimmerhead, Ray Korman had a black 745i turbo. / 5sp. for sale and the ad said it was one of only 5 in the US.

I have read of a few 5 speed conversions for 745's in the past couple of years. From what I understand, they run quite well with the 5 speed, but the general concensus is still that the automatic is so beautifully mated to the turbo motor that the 5 speed is more of a whim and only worth it if you truly want a 5 speed. Performance is not much better than the auto.

Thanks for the info guys. . . I am bit fascinated with the standard (manual) E32. Something about shifting in a 7. Course, for me, to own a vehicle means to shift.
