my parents r thinking about getting an X5 but they want to wait until the next generation comes out. does anyone know what that might be?

BMW body styles generally go about 6-7 years. If you look at the trend of the 5 series the E39 body style was around for about 6 years i believe. The X5 came out in 2000 so i wouldn't expect a change until about 2007. They just made their mid-model year major upgrades with the 2004 X5. That is generally done when the current model is about half way through its production in terms of time.

the x5 is a bit next generation. look at the rear trunk and then look at a new 3, 6, or 7.
