No 'kill stories' to report, but I am hoping to have some soon. Anyone familiar with the northwest suburbs of chicago that has some specific roads they know about that are remarkable smooth and generally are not patroled by the cops? Currently my favorite spot to go as fast as possible is outbound on I-90, after the tollway, right after the Elmhurst Rd exit, before the Arlington Heights exit. The road was paved like last year, I've NEVER, EVER seen a cop there, and there is a huge gentil right turn that is even slightly banked. I get off every morning at Arlington Heights road on my way to work, and its the perfect place to give my car one last workout before I have to park it for 8 hours. I would love to find some other spots in the area that I can get equally aggressive on though.

I always love speeding down 355. Definitely between 75th st. and Ogden.

Mostly expressways... normal streets are death traps...

LSD, GOld Coast and North.. A hell of a left hander but cops have no room to pull over and gun.

How about a track?

Seems like an obvious answer to me.

Get ready for the tow truck :)

Oh, watch out for cops hiding under or above the oasis stop after the I90 toll. After that I also notice it's pretty safe till Arlington Heights road exit.

I usually do a quick sprint to 130mph there too when there's no traffic :)

I wonder what the top speed of a 'police intercepter' version of the crown victoria is. It can't be more than like 140 I'm guessing. Anyone ever get paced by a cop at really high speeds?

2nd vote for the track....

And since no Kill Stories, it's outta here...

Crown Vics don't have to go very fast. Speed of Sound is faster than any BMW.

IDK what IL laws are on police chases, but most agencies now just radio ahead, and set up a barracade.

Take it to the track. Road America is an awesome road course.
If you want to take it to the strip there is Great Lakes in Union Grove-

Both are in WI though.

Route 66 Raceway in Joliet has regular drive your own down teh strip days. The first 300 feet are concrete IIRC.

back when i was at school (evanston) i'd head out on I-94 West and wait for a nice open section and let it rip. man i have to say it took a while to get used to but I really miss Chicago. :(

Not from Chicago, but I was there last weekend and had huge fun up and down I90, even cruised with a G35 coupe until Madison where I was staying.

I-294 north of Willow can be good.

I REALLY like the stretch on 290 from Biesterfield rd to the first exit before woodfield.

I GET A FEW SECONDS YOUNGER EVERYTIME I COME BACK FROM GRANDMA'S.

Also, I love the off ramp from 290 to North Ave. My exhaust screems when I get on it under the overpasses.

I recently had the pleasure of cruising down the express lanes of 90/94 completely by myself. It was around midnight when they were switching the direction of the express lanes. The sign said they lanes were closed, and the lights were flashing as if the gate was about to swing closed, but before it could close, I quickly darted in. They must close the gate first on the farther entrences, because for the entire drive into downtown, I did not pass a single car. I quickly accelerated to top speed (132 mph), and didn't drop below 120 the entire strech. IT WAS GREAT! I was using the entire 2 lanes and the shoulders so I wouldn't have to slow down for some of the sharper curves. It was quite surreal to be cruising that fast with the chicago skyline quickly approaching me. It was also really weird to be going that fast on a road that I am acustumed to being in bumper to bumper traffic in.

That's pretty cool. It feels even faster than usual because of how close the walls are to you in the express lanes. I'll have to try and catch it one of these nights while they are switching it.
