Hello all -

My Mom and Stepdad got themselves an X3 3.0i with the auto - Mom says that there is an issue with the tranny:

When shifting from Reverse to Drive - it will not immediately engage drive, so she ends up revving to almost 4k on the tach before the car moves (then it lurches forward). Did NOT do this when she visited Crater Lake and it got below freezing outside, but in SoCal in the warm it exhibits this behavior consistantly. I have reproduced this, and made sure I was on the brake between R and D, had to rev the engine to almost 3.5K before car started to go forward. Will work fine if I go to steptronic mode and select down to 1st and then switch to 'D'.

Anyone else have any issues like this - she's had it to the dealer once for this, but not fixed, they didn't have a clue.

Thanks in advance -

Sorry, but I'm a n00b in these forums too. I've read a lot about Tranny problems with the 3.0 engines. I haven't heard about it with the X3's yet, but I have heard about the problems in the X5's and the 3Series cars. If they are all using the same engine though, I can definitely understand why they are all having the same problem. I've heard that you can take it back to the dealer and have the replace it with remanufactured parts. I've heard that the remanufactured parts work even better though, if that eases your mind.
