Steve@Edge 07-01-2004, 08:48 AM Oh MAN! Do you guys remember that train-wreck of a thread for the last 'M3 only meet?'
I feel partly responsible for destroying that one. Just let him have his fun...
Steve
BMW MotorSport 07-01-2004, 12:02 PM To all three of you above!!! Please re-read my EDITED post!!! I'm not going to go over this again arguing like my last M3 Malibu meet. Not worth it. Airborden, I met you at the pasadena meet and you were aight. Your car looks clean not a stock E36. So why wouldn't you come?
Slvr328IS 07-01-2004, 12:26 PM I wouldn't go to your M3 meet even if I did have a M3.
slcook54 07-01-2004, 12:39 PM I wouldn't go to your M3 meet even if I did have a M3.
Good, you weren't invited, you are more than willing to go start up a 328is only meet. Don't rain on Richy's parade. You don't like the thread, don't post, simple as that. The last meet Richy organized was the best meet I have ever been to.
WTF! I thought I posted in this thread.....
just go if you don't have a M3.... not like he's gonna push you away..... BUT, for teh pics..... stay away!!!
///M3 fo liyfe!
Slvr328IS 07-01-2004, 12:52 PM Good, you weren't invented, you are more than willing to go start up a 328is only meet. Don't rain on Richy's parade. You don't like the thread, don't post, simple as that. The last meet Richy organized was the best meet I have ever been to.
Invented? I guess you don't have to be mentally competent to have a M3.
I did not know I needed a formal invitation to go to this meet. I could take my dad's M3 if I wanted, but I disagree with the premise. It excludes other enthusiasts, which I think is wrong. But it's okay if you're car looks like a M3. Then you can go. Don can attend because he is "aight" and his car is "clean, not like a stock E36." BMW Enthusiast? Right......
BTW- it is a public forum. I am not trying to start trouble, but I am entitled to post my opinion.
Man there sure are a lot of um, rules and stuff. ;) You might wanna add V1 to your list of stuff to bring.
DarkM3 07-01-2004, 12:57 PM How about we all calm down a little.
BMW MotorSport, thank u for inviting slcook54 and i on your run. I am postponing my run a couple weeks ahead and if ull like to run with us on aug. 8 (thats when the sd run will be :D ) ur are more than invited to join us.
Also one last thing, where exactly are we going to be heading?
Even though I don't have a M3, I hope to go to this meet, just so I can look at the cars that will be there. It's not very often that this kind of opportunity happens where I could actually see in person these very rare cars, which are seldom seen in public :redspot :buttrock :alright .
Like I said ... go. If it's a M3 only thing it's mostly for pics! There are meets like this because ... just because. No real reason. It's cool for pics! and too see comming down the road. there are several meets all time.. where were you this last weekend???
slcook54 07-01-2004, 02:57 PM Invented? I guess you don't have to be mentally competent to have a M3.

Where did you get that from, you can clearly see my post was edited before you even posted. So why shouldn't we invite ricers, surely they are 'enthusiasts' in their own respect. Why don't we just invite every car?
Man there sure are a lot of um, rules and stuff. ;) You might wanna add V1 to your list of stuff to bring. Lee are you going to go, maybe this time I'll be able to keep up.

Lee are you going to go, maybe this time I'll be able to keep up.
You wrote invented. Period.
Which ricers are you referring to? What is the harm in inviting other members with different BMWs? Just because you have a M3, doesn't make you more knowledgeable. So with your logic, would Ryan Castro or Jon Sibal be able to attend? I mean, come on, why should they be able to go? They are only 3 series.
DinanS52 07-01-2004, 04:02 PM here we go again...geezzus, what is wrong with having a M3 meet? a bmw
meet? or an european car meet? C'mmon guys this one is just a little more
specific than all the others we have on here...nothing wrong with that...
Hope I can make this one...
slcook54 07-01-2004, 04:43 PM You wrote invented. Period.

I didn't make the rules of the meet, so don't question me as to who can come. You claim Richy is excluding enthusiasts, well ricers think they are car enthusiasts, why shouldn't they come? Why don't we invite all types of car?

Obviously you misunderstood me. When I said "other enthusiasts," I meant other BMW enthusiasts. I didn't think I would need to specify. I guess I was wrong.
I don't understand what you are saying. You are implying that all other BMWs are "ricers....." Correct?
slcook54 07-01-2004, 06:39 PM Obviously you misunderstood me. When I said "other enthusiasts," I meant other BMW enthusiasts. I didn't think I would need to specify. I guess I was wrong.
I don't understand what you are saying. You are implying that all other BMWs are "ricers....." Correct? You are implying that Richy is excluding other car 'enthusiasts' because only M3's are invited. What I am saying is that with your argument we should invite all BMW's, then someone will complain that other german cars are not invited, then those people will want to bring there friends with Japenese and American cars. There are car meets like those, and everyone is welcome to attend but every once in a while it is nice to have a little exclusivity. If there wasn't a difference between M3's and other E36 models then there wouldn't be meets like these.
e30 Jeremy 07-01-2004, 06:48 PM all of you should grow up some...
BTW. B R, you said M3's are rare and you hardly see them in public? And you live in LA? Impossible. I can't go a day without seeing one.

I was arguing that he should allow other BMW enthusiasts to participate. If he would like to have a meet with all M3s, fine. I just don't agree with it. It just doesn't make sense to me.
So a stock M3 is allowed to go, but would a widebody turbo 318 be allowed to show up? I've gathered from Richy's posts that the answer to that question would be yes. So as long as your car looks good, you can attend. If you rename the meet "Good looking BMWs meet." I'll be satisfied.
Aww man guys, must we go through this again? Someone be a bigger man and stop complaining. Once one person stops, the rest will follow. :D
Sound Of Speed 07-01-2004, 07:58 PM if i dont have my m3 by then,
can i ride shotgun with someone?
SC318i 07-01-2004, 09:20 PM i dont have an M3, but i did recieve an invitation.. so is that a mistake or can i join all of you in a little fun in carving the canyons??
E36Eric 07-01-2004, 10:39 PM Please inspect my vehicle for verification to participate. I dont have an M3 but I do have an M front bumper and side skirts. :D I'd just like to know if I qualify or not. If I do, I might go. Thanks.
Agaru_Vala 07-02-2004, 01:12 AM Man, look what you guys made me do. I wanted to go to meets so bad,
I.......
I.....
Well, I kinda....
I went out and bought a M3 :buttrock , there I said it.
I bought her today, at 4 pm.
Shes a 99 Sliver, on Dove grey, loaded 33k miles :D
Hope I can make it hehe
PS: I didn't buy it for this meet, I had been looking and found the one I wanted to buy.
rawe36 07-02-2004, 04:03 AM Congrads Agaru_Vala . For people who dont own an M3 and are jealous of meets they can't attend because they don't own a M3. Learn from Agaru_Vala he went and bought one why don't you do the same. Hey slvr328is Listen I think there is a honda meet coming up and you should see if they allow bmw enthusiest to attend. some of them even have m3 mirrors!!!
BMW MotorSport 07-02-2004, 06:35 AM Hey Steve don't forget to spread the word on the other BMW forums. If they give you any Shiet just reffer them over to me man. Don't let these little prick punks get to you man. I learned from my last M3 Only meet that they are ALL talk. Especially that one kid FruityOne (name says it all) from last time. Have a safe drive from SD man. Lates.
If they want to go, oh well. They will stick out like a sour thumb. Be the ugly duckling of the pack and be in the WAYYYYYY back. So why would you want to go anyway if they are not invited??? I just don't understand some people and how they can get all butt hurt. Well Silver328 sorry to burst your bubble buddy. :stickoutt
RawE36 OMG LMAO that is too funny. I was rolling of laughter over here. Notice how he didn't have a response for that one? HAHAHA Maybe he'll roll with his Honda "Enthusiast" Buddies sporting the FAKE M3 mirrors.
M3boarder 07-02-2004, 06:46 AM to those complaining about this meet, pleeease shuuuut uppp. i agree with steve, its fine to have some more exclusive meets sometimes. theres 5er meets where they only have 5 series's and you dont see any 3 or 7 series owners complaining. theres e46 meets, and no e36 owners complain. why cant there be an m3 meet? its just one meet, not like you cant go to any others ever.
Don Nguyen 07-02-2004, 10:44 AM It is all physcological. Obviously the group that is outcasted or seem to not be wanted by the rest of the group is going to lash out against those who didnt include them in the group. While the people who were included feel safe and whatnot and will lash out against those who are complaining about it. Seriously, it's just natural for this to happen and you have to understand it. This takes a different level of thinking to understand, an unbiased one.
Sure i dont like it, but sure i wouldnt be one to complain if there was a vert only meet, and im sure most of you initially if there was a meet specifically for your car or whatever and you were invited you wouldnt be all that mad. And of course they're exceptions to everything.
Just the only thing i see wrong here is when the comparision or use of ricers and other cars and whatnot came into play with the whole "discussion" and i dont see how that proved anything but added flame to the whole thing.
I dont know, that is only one man's opinion. And im not trying to sway anyone elses opinions here, just open them up to different views instead of the one they are seeing now.
Steve@Edge 07-02-2004, 10:45 AM Hey Steve don't forget to spread the word on the other BMW forums. If they give you any Shiet just reffer them over to me man. And you wonder why people had trouble with your meets?
Have your fun, boys.
Slvr328IS 07-02-2004, 11:42 AM I do not have a problem with a M3 only meet. I have a problem with Richy saying that if your car looks "clean, not like a stock E36," you can come.
BMW MotorSport 07-02-2004, 11:49 AM And you wonder why people had trouble with your meets?
Trouble with my meets? I don't have any trouble with my meets. People have a problem and can't read by clicking on a link that says "BMW M3 Meet" Also if you are not invited, why get butt hurt? Why? Click on the link read about it, keep your mouth shut/opinion, wait for the next meet that is for ALL BMW's and be the better man and brush it off. I think Airborden has a terrific point.
jmargo 07-02-2004, 11:49 AM WTF! I thought I posted in this thread.....

Well, now we are getting personal huhh? Man you kids don't give up. Wow maybe you should come down to the meet and tell me which ones I should make exceptions for then.
I had to make an exception for a couple of people. First of all because I have a couple of friends with NON E36 M3's that I want to go. But it IS a M3 only meet. And since I'm hosting it, I can make my own rules and invite who I please. Since you are not my friend, or know you in any way and also you certainly haven't showed any slight sense of maturity. Well guess what, not invited. So if you have a problem with me not inviting strangers then you are seriously wrong.
I have made a few exceptions for a couple of non M3 E36 BMW's. Non E36 M3's please contact me.
Who would be considered an exception?
BTW. B R, you said M3's are rare and you hardly see them in public? And you live in LA? Impossible. I can't go a day without seeing one.
Sorry, I lead a very sheltered life(in an institution). But my doctor said I can go out for an hour to see the M3s, as long as someone accompanies me :freak.
bmWXYan 07-02-2004, 01:57 PM Aww man guys, must we go through this again? Someone be a bigger man and stop complaining. Once one person stops, the rest will follow. :D
GOOD IDEA, JUST LOOK AT MACE'S AVATAR, IT'LL TAKE YOUR MIND OFF OF THIS
einhander 07-02-2004, 02:00 PM Well hell, I have an M3!

if i recall you were nowhere to be seen at the newport meet and im all talk...and besides id rather sleep than waste my time going to a meet where its all about compensating for a small penis
edit: this will be my last post in this thread so dont bother replying
jaramill 07-02-2004, 08:56 PM For those of you who are not M3s, there's another "official" BMW meet, and what I mean by official is that it's held by the BMW CCA (Car Club of America) (http://www.bmwcca.org) where ALL BMWs are welcomed.
Some of you may have heard of it......it's called the BMW Oktoberfest (http://www.bmwcca.org/Oktoberfest2004/index.shtml)
I remember seeing this thread last time because there's a Yahoo Groups called m3clubla that also has a website BMW M3 Club of Los Angeles (http://www.m3clubla.com) and I knew the big uproar. I can't believe there is the same uproar. But I'm neutral. I understand the idea of JUST M3s but if other BMWs show up it shouldn't be a big deal.

 dumbest thing ive ever heard. the only reason you're saying that is because you wish you had an m3... im sure if you had the opportunity to get one for the same price as your 325 you would pass because m3's are just to compensate for a small penis  is that why you dropped in an s50?

what the hect, how you find yourself into here?
Mblaster 07-03-2004, 01:08 AM I think we just need to let the M3 guys have their fun. Heck we're having a 5er meet/cruise the following weekend. Though if anyone in a 3,6,7,or 8 series wants to come out and check out the rides, I'm sure we won't be bent about it as long as they aren't messing with the car lineup for the photos. I mean heck we are all BMW enthusiasts. I'd like to come out and see all the M3's. I love em, but I won't be parking my M5 near them or going on their cruise to give them the respect at their meet. Yo have fun fellas, and be safe out there. :buttrock
Take pics!
Also, does this qualify?

Serious 07-03-2004, 04:31 AM all this uproar and like 4 people have stated they are going... who would actually want to go to this meet anyways. i bet its so small and lame.
dude get off your high horse, your making yourself sound immature and bitchy. i have no problem with you having an m3 only meet but you just sound like an arrogant asshole.
M3boarder 07-03-2004, 04:47 AM i might be down to go, ill just have to play it by ear and see how im feeling by then. im currently just out of commission recovering from surgery. i drove around a bit tonight after not driving for about 3 weeks and it felt goooood. lets see if we can get an OC caravan ya?
the only reason it seems small is because they just started the list a few posts ago, im sure thats not everyone going. and the only reason this guy sounds arrogant is because of all the non-m3 owners bitching about an m3 exclusive meet making him emphasize the exclusivity of the meet, that m3's means m3's and not regular 3-series's (nothing against them). Mblaster has got the right attitude, anyones welcome to come and check out the cars, talk to everyone and what not, i mean hey were all bimmer enthusiasts. just park elsewhere since the point of the photoshoot part is to have all m3's in the lineup.
hc1001 07-03-2004, 05:35 AM there are alotta non m3's they cant invite like me, some wouldnt wanna be beat at their own show... :buttrock
i like ur thinking...
Serious: I'm pretty sure there will be more people going since at the last Malibu meet held by BMW MotorSport, several cars showed up including a red m5 with 20" ac schnitzers and custom sound system. This time, things should get better.
Let's keep the list rolling...

dude get off your high horse, your making yourself sound immature and bitchy. i have no problem with you having an m3 only meet but you just sound like an arrogant asshole.
Ding ding ding, we have a winner :redspot I see no problem with someone wanted to have an all M meet but not when the mentality is "the only reason you're saying that is because you wish you had an m3" Im sure theres a few E36 guys that would smoke us M guys.
Hey um yea ... let's chill on all the bickering. I mean, dig the idea - it's to have an event where you get together a certain specific model of car. Happens all the time. Imagine a photo shoot of a mass of M3s, then imagine one of a mass of ... any BMWs. The latter is uh nice, but typical, the former is kinda cool and unusual.
And if you don't have an M3 and you really want one SO bad you get all emo over it - GET ONE and be done with it. :)
slcook54 07-03-2004, 01:51 PM all this uproar and like 4 people have stated they are going... who would actually want to go to this meet anyways. i bet its so small and lame. You are definitely correct, I remember only like 4 four people showing up last time.

i might be down to go, ill just have to play it by ear and see how im feeling by then. im currently just out of commission recovering from surgery. i drove around a bit tonight after not driving for about 3 weeks and it felt goooood. lets see if we can get an OC caravan ya? Hope the recovery is going well, I know a few SD guys are going to cruise up there, and I know Carlos (DinanS52) wanted to caravan from the OC, so we can meet up there or something.
the only reason it seems small is because they just started the list a few posts ago, im sure thats not everyone going. Refer to the pictures above, trust me, people will show.
LordGop 07-03-2004, 02:54 PM Let's keep the list rolling...

sounds good, either stop in OC and we can all caravan up or if theres too many of you guys then us OC guys can hop on the freeway when you pass through... ill try to make it, i havent been to a meet since the last rainy day SD one.

M3boarder 07-04-2004, 04:38 AM whats the driving route?
slcook54 07-04-2004, 02:11 PM whats the driving route? Last time we met at Ralphs talked for an hour or two, then hit up some of the twisty canyons in Malibu, VERY twisty. We stopped for some pictures and then ate at the restaurant Neptunes, I believe the same restaurant they ate at in the Fast and Furious. At least that movie did something right, they had awesome food.

UNIQUE///M3 07-04-2004, 02:58 PM I think we just need to let the M3 guys have their fun. :buttrock
Well said Mblaster.
Count me in for the meet guys.

BoostedE21 07-09-2004, 02:28 PM DAMN, a meet thats close to me and I'm tech. not invited, even tho I can keep up with the M's :D
BMW MotorSport 07-10-2004, 03:26 AM Hey guys, the turn out is coming out extremely well. I have spoken with the representative of Meridian MotorSport owners of the so famous ALPINE SUPERCHARGED M3 SHOW CAR. They agreed to bring it down to the M3 Malibu Meet to show and maybe the drive. They will also be bringing other modded E36 and E46 M3's.
EVERYONE: PLEASE KNOW THAT THIS IS AN M3 ENTHUSIAST MEET ONLY. NO OTHER MODELS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE LINE UP FOR THE PHOTO SHOOT. NO FELLOW M3 OWNER CAN INVITE NON M3 CARS. PERIOD.
Come on guys I know a lot of you have friends here on BimmerForums that DON'T have M3's. I'm sure they are all nice cars and some of them can probably keep up or beat some of our M3's but PLEASE, PLEASE hold back from inviting NON M3 owners. Let's try and have some exclusivity here and know that our cars are worth it. Thank you.
This is the car:
youvebeensmoked 07-10-2004, 05:49 AM hey richy, im cool with the idea of you guys wanting to have an M only meet and all but dude, you car isnt really different from many of our own non m cars. you are making it out to sound like you have a rare one of a kind sports car. which granted m3's are really cool and not as many e36 m3's were made as were non m e36's.but there were quite a few made bro. i mean seriously they are practically the SAME car! and many of us have added on most if not all the parts that are different.sorry for the rant dont think im hating on your meet or that im all butt hurt cuz i cant go or anything. im not, i just had a problem with the whole "know that our cars are worth it" comment. but dont get me wrong, it is your meet and you are entitled to invite whomever you'd like. just my couple o pennies.

True. Very true. But for picture purposes, I guess I wouldn't mind if any non-M was there that looked like one. I mean, it's really cool to have all similar cars (different colors) in a photo.
I also wouldn't mind any other cars going if they could keep up. The last meet I went to felt more like a cruise than an actual "drive". It was WAY too slow for me. Too many non-Ms slowing the M owners down. :(
And that signature is hilarious!!! :biglaughb
E36Eric 07-14-2004, 02:57 AM Its not the car that is slow, its those unexperienced and scared M drivers driving the canyons. :P I'm just speaking from experience.
clumpymold 07-14-2004, 03:07 AM Its not the car that is slow, its those unexperienced and scared M drivers driving the canyons. :P I'm just speaking from experience.
Really? I'm inexperienced (never tracked and RARELY peeled out in any car before) and I wasn't driving hard AT ALL on this run. Only heard my tires squeal ONCE when I had a breakaway (i.e., no one in front). Other than that, it seemed REALLY slow on the turns. Just thought it was the non-Ms pushing THEIR cars to the limits while the Ms were just following behind. :dunno I know my friend's Honda Element was going as fast as me and he told me he was really pushing his car (peeling out on EVERY turn). Not sure about the other non-M BMWs though.
BMW MotorSport 07-14-2004, 05:16 PM clumpymold: You are right, this will be a M3 only Photo Shoot/Drive. I will arrive early to direct all the M3's to their sections. E30's first and then all the E36 M3's, then the E46 M3's. If any non M3 cars show up I will make them park elsewhere and on the drive, go behind all of us. Do NOT worry about the drive, there will be no NON M3 cars holding us back. Besides my M3 meets are completely organized and I make everyone give each other a 15 sec gap between cars. We will take off on the drive in intervals until the next rest area.
youvebeensmoked: Hey Glenn, if you are not all butt hurt then why post that reply man??? You could have kept your pennies to yourself. You know what bro, to me my M3 is the rarest thing ever. I don't know any better and really don't want to. I would NEVER down grade to an 318 or 325 because they ARE NOT the Same car. And I don't know one Single M3 owner that would say "Oh well I want to put a 325 motor and 325 body kit on my M3" But most if not all NON M3 owners want the M3 look/power/handling/bracking/styling/symbol. Adding a M technic Body kit to a NON M3 does not make it the same car man. I understand that the body's are the same and the parts are interchangeable but that does not make them the SAME car. Not by a long shot.
If I recall correctly someone here on the forums even mentioned that our M3's were HAND built and so were the MOTORS. (NOT SURE ON THE SOURCE) Also M3's were made in way fewer numbers than all of the rest
So yes I do see a M3 ONLY Meet being quite worth it to me. Don't get me wrong, I love all if not most BMW's and they are all special in their own way. But for me, M3 is the ultimate driving machine and I wouldn't have it any other way. My .02 cents.
Reminder: Please keep to the subject of the thread and THE MEET. THANK YOUundefined
E36Eric 07-14-2004, 05:36 PM Really? I'm inexperienced (never tracked and RARELY peeled out in any car before) and I wasn't driving hard AT ALL on this run. Only heard my tires squeal ONCE when I had a breakaway (i.e., no one in front). Other than that, it seemed REALLY slow on the turns. I went to some Malibu run awhile ago and I was stuck behind a e46 m3 cab. He smoked me on the straights but he was going pretty slow on turns. You also cant compare a 3 series with an element. An E36 m3 and 325, both with coilovers and same wheels/tires would perform equally on turns.
OTOH, I didnt know M3's were hand built. The first thing that popped into my mind was a quilt.
nicholas 07-14-2004, 08:32 PM Let me correct a few things.
One, if you put coilovers on an M3 and A 325, with the same rims, they would not handle the same. The M3 has different suspension pieces with different pick up points than the 325i. It also has more torque, which helps handling, especially when exiting a corner.
Second, E36 M3s are not hand built. The Euro motors I thinkwere hand built. The US LTWs had the best of the US M3 motors in that they were the ones that dynoed the best numbers, but were not hand built.
Third, If the guy wants just M3s at the meet, why does everyone feel so angry about it. When someone sets up a BMW only meet, the Benzo guys don't get their panties in a twist, why should you?
Fourth, this will be a cruise, you cannot effectively run more than 10 cars on a canyon without serious risk.
Anyways, As i have an M3, I will be there
clumpymold 07-14-2004, 08:39 PM Yeah, I was going to say the same thing about performance. If that were the case, why even bother buying an M3? But maybe he's assuming equally "inexperienced" drivers since an inexperienced driver wouldn't push the M3 as much. :dunno
I'll see you there, nicholas!!! :buttrock

youvebeensmoked 07-14-2004, 09:26 PM you didnt quite get what i said, but anyways richy, i said i had no problems with the idea of you guys wanting to have an m3 only meet but then you made a few comments that to seemed to belittle all of us non-m owners so i got a little pissed, its cool to want to have a meet with just m3's but if you dont want anyone to give you grief then dont go on a forum like this one that is for all car enthusiasts and post remarks about how you are better than they are because most people especially myself wont appreciate that. maybe i read your posts and misunderstood or took a few things out of context much like you did with mine, but im sure that if you feel the way you say you do about your car and the shoe was on the other foot, you would be a little pissed too. but sometimes you just gotta say fuuuuuuucccckkkk iiiiit.
sorry to continue the OT comments but im done now. have fun on your meet, oh and by the way richy, anytime you wanna race you let me know, even though its a non-m ill still take you. :D :buttrock

clumpymold: You are right, this will be a M3 only Photo Shoot/Drive.
NOW you tell me of ONE single 318 or 325 that was hand built by BMW? Also M3's were made in way fewer numbers than all of the rest E36's that were mass produced by a robot assembly line.
You give m3 owners a bad name. :nono
BTW, the last hand built m car was the E34 m5, not the E36 m3. The m3 was on an assembly line with the rest of the E36.

US spec E36 M3's are not handbuilt. Only E30 M3's.

best post ever...
BMWg84 07-14-2004, 10:59 PM I went to some Malibu run awhile ago and I was stuck behind a e46 m3 cab.
Hey Clumpy, Eric is completely right. there is no need to argue there.
BMWg84 07-14-2004, 11:06 PM I wont be attending this meet. I feel as if some M3 owners are turning arrogant. Who the hell cares if you have an "M3" or 318/323/325/328/330. There are only but a few things that make the overall difference. I've been a 325 guy for over 4 years and every meet i've gone to in the past has given my E36 the respect it deserves. All of our BMWs are something to be proud of, but don't let the fact that your bmw is an "M3" go to your head. I've driven in faster 318s than stock M3s!
That's cool that it's going to be a photoshoot meet, but don't single out or descriminate certain people/cars. That kinda makes you look like a BMW Nazi. (this is why bmw drivers get a bad rep)
anyway, have fun on your M3 meet - and drive safe!
M3boarder 07-14-2004, 11:23 PM who the f*ck cares??? its one meet dedicated to m3's, the most famous of bmw's models. ya a 325 can be made to look just like an m3 for the pics but he wants true m3's for the M3 ONLY meet. its just like if there was an e46 meet. e36 owners wouldnt be bitching on their thread that they are discriminating against older 3 series's. or how bout an m5 meet? a regular 5 series can be made to look just like an m5 but i dont think anyone would be crying about they cant be a part of it. if there was an e46 m3 meet i sure as hell wouldnt be bitching on their thread about how they are discriminating against other m3's and how were "all bmw (and even more specifically m3) enthusiasts"... so please just let it go. fact of the matter is its an "m3" meet. oh and it doesnt matter how fast your car is, that has nothing to do with anything. this is an "m3 meet" not a "240+ hp meet"
It's not the fact that he wants to have an 'm3 only meet' that pisses me off. It's the fact that he's talking some serious sh*t about non-m cars and their owners. I think an m3 meet would be cool, but you have to have the brains to know that when you post an exclusive meet on a public board, that you cannot talk sh*t about the people/cars that can't come. If you really wanna be specific about who comes, why not just have an email list going, so you don't have to post a thread? My friends and I have gtg's where we just email each other. It happens all the time. You should try something like that. Because right now, you are looking like the immature one. :embarrasm

slcook54 07-14-2004, 11:57 PM If you don't have an M3 why even bother posting in this thread, yes it is a free board comprised of many non-E36 M3 owners and everyone has the right to voice their opinion. But, this has already happened in the past. If you feel inferior go do something to boost your ego, they are cars people. Richy might come of arrogant, but by replying your only making it obvious that he is getting under your skin. Now I know why so many M3's showed up to the last one, because disgruntled BMW owners keep bumping this thread back up. This thread shouldn't be over 2 pages.
Mblaster 07-15-2004, 12:44 AM Dang, you 3er guys sure got issues.
UNIQUE///M3 07-15-2004, 12:51 AM Come on now everyone. Lets stop the second grade b*tching. We are all part of the same "club." We are all BMW owners. This dispute has been going on for like 4 pages. We all go to meets and chances are that after this "M3 Meet" there will be other meets where we will all see eachother. This forum has brought people with the common interest of BMW's together. All of us should be proud of our cars weather you drive a 318 or M3. We are all part of an exclusive club that not everybody can be in. Just get along.
Everybody has made good points and most have voiced their opinions. Lets let it stop.

BoostedE21 07-15-2004, 01:00 AM You know what is sad, that we cant work things out, why not just have teh non-M3 cars park else where but close enought not walk miles??? Think people think.
Now read CARFULLY!!!!
To the person that said he was being slowed down by other "non-M"car cause they cars are slow, ever think about MAYBE they dont want to kill themselves, not cause there cars are slow!? Sh!t I have one of the oldest cars on the board and I can hang with you M guys! but it does not mean I am going to fly through corners and carp.
Another thing, you really cant control anyone on the drive and if people with non M's show up, so much for that idea.
So, why not have the M3's park together and non M's park in a different spot so they are not in the pic?
Shoot I just wanted to meet some people and would be happy to park away from the M's. Plus Its a meet that close to me, but I see Chris is not going so I wont go. And please dont take this the worng way!!!

Okay, like I stated in my previous post, I've NEVER even been on a track and I have rarely even peeled out in previous cars. So driving "hard" is a HUGE understatement. The drive was more of a Sunday cruise to me. Not hard AT ALL. I don't want to kill myself either. I'm SURE if any other M3 owners were driving as slow as me, they'd speed up. I think the non-M3 drivers WERE pushing themselves though...or at least more so than the M3 drivers. :dunno
Anyway, enough of this bickering. There's no point to this. We're losing the point of this thread. :(
But I DO agree with your idea though. I really don't mind who shows up. I just would like a photo with my car along with M3 (or M3-looking) cars. :D
M3boarder 07-15-2004, 07:40 AM alright guys enough bitching and arguing about this meet. get over it...
now back ON topic, whats the deal with our SD/OC caravan??
UNIQUE///M3 07-15-2004, 11:19 AM SD Caravan.
How many people do we have from San Diego going?
Where in SD does everyone live.
We should agree on a meeting spot. UTC???
M3boarder 07-15-2004, 12:22 PM us OC guys will also be meeting up with the SD caravan once you get up to south OC. Depending on how many there are of you, we can either a). meet at the starbucks where the OC guys are gonna meet where we can fuel ourselves up before the drive (it will be one right by the freeway) or b). let us know when youre passing by and we can hop on the freeway and join the caravan up there.
and also, what other OCer's are gonna be joining the caravan? I know myself and DinanS52 are so far. im located in laguna niguel and hes in aliso viejo. whats a good starbucks to meet at close to the freeway? im thinkin either the one by the mission viejo mall or the one by the la paz exit across from the car wash.
UNIQUE///M3 07-16-2004, 03:09 AM sd guys... I dont know if anyone has started to get the caravan set up yet so i am suggesting UTC mall... I will drive through and see where the best area is (in front of whatever store...) for us to meet, if interested.
Tom
clumpymold 07-16-2004, 03:36 AM Anyone know when this event will end? I may need to work but would prefer to just push it back a few hours.
Anyone?
DarkM3 07-16-2004, 04:29 AM sd should meet at utc at around 8-830am but im not sure at which parking lot?
UNIQUE///M3 07-16-2004, 10:40 AM i will be scouting out the UTC parking lots this morning... probably posting results this evening around 10, maybe later. I wont be home all day to post sooner. If you must know, call my cell.

Barnes & noble right off the 405 in huntington Beach. Exit Beach blvd...... then you back under the freeway on beach... make a right on Edinger and another right at the first light into the parking lot..... the place to meet would be in between the barnes & noble and the Kohl's that's there. You can't miss the Kohl's it a big building. HOW DOES THAT SOUND? Time is up to the SD peeps.... if ya'll are leaving SD around 8-8:30 the expect them to take about an hour to get there.......

agreed. so its set, the official OC meeting spot will be Barnes and Noble off Beach Blvd in Huntington Beach. figure meet there around 9ish to be safe, but well set a specific time before sunday.
so SD guys, are you willing to make a brief stop over in HB to gather a few more of your bimmer buddies? this way you can rest/get some coffee/do whatever and gather yourselves before continuing the drive up to malibu. plus its easier on us :D so ya?

For all of you who weren't able to make this event you really missed out. Im not exactly sure on the count but I think it was around 22 or 23 M3's! It was quite a site. Thanks again, I think I will enjoy it even more next time once my suspension is on and I've done some engine mods!
Dustin

Yesterday my underpanel came off on the freeway, all my rims are bent, and I'm having some front suspension issues, not to mention the 2 1/2 hour + drive each way.

 Was that from the run? I was actually planning on putting my JT-D underpanel before the drive (after I put my new lip and splitters on), but ended up not going at all. Didn't feel well. :(
Pictures, anyone? I'm curious what I missed out on. If no pictures show up, I'm going to assume I missed out on nothing. ;)
DarkM3 07-18-2004, 10:29 PM i guess i was the only un-cursed one from sd that went.
slcook54 07-18-2004, 10:33 PM Ace, I would have love to have gone, there were just too many things going against it. :(

^^ Hey, I just noticed that the 95s (I believe) have horizontal vents in the hood vs. the other vertical vents. Is that true or is that just your hood?
UNIQUE///M3 07-19-2004, 12:25 PM lemme check... never noticed...
fobbishm3?

I think that's just how it looks in the picture, our cars look pretty much the same, minus my lack of mods. I have the vertical vents. :)
highboostingm3 07-19-2004, 03:34 PM Any actual pics of the meet yet? :shifty

BMW MotorSport 07-20-2004, 11:29 AM Well, gentleman it was a great M3 ONLY MEET just as I Planned it. The turn out was great and it was nice meeting some BimmerForum faces. All you negative NON M3 People were right, it was soooo small and lame that only 4 people showed up. LOL  (pictures below)
It was nice to see all those E36 M3's lined up on Pacific Coast High Way. No one got lost and or had a mishap. Perfect Canyon Run. Could not have asked for more. :redspot
I have to apologize to EVERYONE who attended this Sundays M3 meet for Neptune's Net. The parking lot was way too small and it was right in the afternoon (busy time) The security guy told all of us to just leave because there was NO MORE room. So we all left. Sorry to leave everyone behind. Next time I will pick out a better eating spot with a bigger parking lot.

BMW MotorSport 07-20-2004, 11:36 AM Thanks Doostin, that's funny how we both posted the pics at the same exact time. It's a M3 thing. :alright
Nice to meet you man, hope you liked the twisties I set up for everyone. Hope you can come down for the next one.
I'm already planning out the next M3 only meet. :devillook Also, it's funny how the 5 series guys are having a 5 series ONLY meet yet you don't see any immature kids complaining over there. Good luck to the fivers.
P.S. They are using my exact same meeting location. I might cruise down there just to check out the tricked out Fives.
phillyB///M3 07-20-2004, 11:38 AM Nice Pictures! Sweet looking Cars... Im still loving that Avus Richy. :)
doostin 07-20-2004, 11:47 AM Thanks Doostin...
No problem, now lets just hope I dont exceed my bandwidth this month...hah
But of course all the haters of the M3 only meet wont be looking at the pictures because they dont like the idea of having an M3 only event... :devillook
Great pictures by the way! I wish that one of me and you wasn't so blurry, that would of been a really good picture.
Anyways, I am definitely coming next time, that was a blast.
BoostedE21 07-20-2004, 11:57 AM WOW, that looks like it was fun, glad you guys had fun. Now how about this idea, we get a BMW Malibu meet going?
doostin 07-20-2004, 12:16 PM sounds like a great idea!
LordGop 07-20-2004, 04:55 PM Well, gentleman it was a great M3 ONLY MEET just as I Planned it. The turn out was great and it was nice meeting some BimmerForum faces. All you negative NON M3 People were right, it was soooo small and lame that only 4 people showed up. LOL  (pictures below)

Thanks for planning it had a great time...very well put together. The canyon run was great and VERY well done, and never felt like I had to rush thru left turns or stop signs, I could take my time and respect other road traffic....was a blast. Thanks again.
Don't worry about Neptune's net That fire marshall pulled up and was like there is way to many people in there....this guy (Guy running Neptune's) is gonna get his butt kicked, it was all good....and the fire guys blocked PCH to let us out :redspot very nice of them.
M3boarder 07-20-2004, 05:12 PM so did anyone eat at neptunes? it seemed like after i got out of the parking lot everyone just disappeared and i didnt see anyone parked on the street :dunno
BMW MotorSport 07-21-2004, 06:20 PM Here's another good pic. Notice John ready to hit the twisties!!! :buttrock
BMW MotorSport 07-22-2004, 12:20 PM so did anyone eat at neptunes? it seemed like after i got out of the parking lot everyone just disappeared and i didnt see anyone parked on the street :dunno
Yeah sorry M3boarder, the fire marshal and the parking security kicked everyone out not just us M3's. The lot was overflowing and was a hazard. We basically just went through the lot and out. Me and the Rennen E46 M3's just took off. I have to apologize for that. I will find a better ending spot for the next M3 only meet.
BMW MotorSport 07-23-2004, 03:20 PM Anyone have anymore pictures of this M3 event???

Hey Glenn, I'd really like to apologize but I'm not. Specially after you posted all that crap on MY M3 Malibu thread.
I never said any insulting comments directed at you or any other NON M on my thread. Unless I was just defending myself.
That's what people get for going the cheapo/inexpensive methods for go fast MODS.
Anyway, how in hell were you thinking of even "taking me" with your 328? Maybe if you had a blower on your 328 you would. But you didn't. I notice in your picture of your burnt motor that you only had a cold air intake. Visually you didn't have anything. Maybe you had cams? Even still, I have cams also and I'm still 3.0L and your still 2.8L. Unless you were running a bored motor, LTW pistons & rods, and ported and polished head with all the race goodies. Which I HIGHLY doubt. You said this comment before you installed the NITROUS and blew up your motor. So if you can enlighten me on how you were planing on "ill still take you" comment. That would be great.
P.S it is an unfortunate mishap
Don Nguyen 07-23-2004, 11:00 PM Man you are immature.
BMW MotorSport 07-23-2004, 11:23 PM Man you are immature. Well, Mr. psychology major, what's so immature about facts and telling the truth? ;)
Anyway, Your the biggest instigator I've seen on this thread, so just stay out of it a-hole.
Besides, not to sound like a high schooler but "HE STARTED IT" :alright
REALLY LMAO
Don Nguyen 07-23-2004, 11:31 PM Posting it once in his thread is one thing, posting it in this again is another. What's the point, oh noes! you're the big man now!
Oh man, im such a big instigator (wow that was a big word there) that i made 1 or 2 posts previous to the recent one and this one about the meet and i was trying to be on both sides that were bitching.
And when did i need to be a psyc major to know what immature is. You sure didnt need a major to tell non m drivers from m drivers apart.
I like how you went from saying i had a good point to whatever you want to think it is now
Trouble with my meets? I don't have any trouble with my meets. People have a problem and can't read by clicking on a link that says "BMW M3 Meet" Also if you are not invited, why get butt hurt? Why? Click on the link read about it, keep your mouth shut/opinion, wait for the next meet that is for ALL BMW's and be the better man and brush it off. I think Airborden has a terrific point.
