OK i was thinking about making a canyon run two weeks before the auto-x meet at the Q on July 31.

Date: July 18, 2004
Time: 10am-2pm or later not exactly sure yet.
Meeting:Belmont Park, the parking lot across the street from the park.
Destination: People say they want to ride in Rancho Santa Fe. But extactly where is not for certain. (((SUGGESTIONS ARE NEEDED))) :help
And also having lunch somewhere around there. I need some suggestions.
Need to bring: Walkie talkie, car, u, money for gas and food.

Mainly focused on BMW's, but everyone is welcomed since my friend with a wrx is going.

Ur opinions are important so give them to me. :D

I'm a maybe at this point. Don't know if I'm working that day or not yet.

As for where to go, there is always the 'extended run' we did a while back that Jeff planned. It went all the way out the 94, turned right at that intersection where we met last time and went WAAAY out through east county and back through Julian, down through Scripps Poway Prkway to the 15 to the 56 to the Pat&Oscars just off the 5. It was a good, long run and everyone was ready for food afterwards.

slcook54, i love the map, where did u find it? I google'd belmont park in attempt to find the address and provide a mapquest, but that map was just too simple to pass up. If you get lost, well what can I say you suck! :D PS, I made the arrow myself  I know, I know, skills, you don't have to say it.

Here's a good long route to take.

Head East on Telegraph Canyon Rd ALL the way out to the old 94 through Dulzura and Barrett Junction...
Hook a left on Buckman Springs road, head out to the 8 east...
Hop on it and exit on Sunrise Hwy...
Head on through all the way to Julian....
Get on the 79N towards Palomar...
Either turn left onto Mesa Grande or bypass those tight twisties and go straight towards the 76.
Turn right on the S7 to go up the Fast side of Palomar, stop by Mother's kitchen, then head down the S6 or Tight side of Palomar.
Then go home.
This is the usual route I take when I go riding. It takes me about 3-4 hrs depending on how many runs I do at Palomar. Very nice scenery, many different types of roads, both tight turns and places where you can really open it up.

THe 4cyl's owned that run!!! You, me, todd, mariano... yeah... good times...

Oh yeah, put me down as a maybe as well... it all depends on when i get around to install my new struts, strut housing, tie rods, tons of bushings, and get yet another alignment... So, we'll see...

I really would rather ride those roads than drive, but I'm also working the night before so I'll be sleeping in on Sunday.
Depending on what time you guys head out they'll probably be a TON of bikes out. Be careful and watch out for em.

What do u guys say?I could postone the run to July 25 or to Aug. 8, a week after the sd auto-x? ACE, I'll probably cruise up for the M3 meet, since it is the best meet I have been to yet. We can postpone it to August 8th if you want. You want to caravan up there?

DarkM3
07-01-2004, 12:51 PM
yea that sounds great. I guess ill start making the preperations on the aug. 8 run soon or should i start planning and posting it now? We all should meet up together and caravan up there like slcook54 suggested.
How about the utc parking lot? Like at 8.30 or 9?
