This happened a good 2 and a half hours ago; going to formation. I leave Arnstein, Germany heading to Schweinfurt via the autobahn. It was me (320i), a VW Golf TDI station wagon, and a American Spec 02/03 325 (all in that order), all stuck behind a slow ass tractor trailer. Now, there is a good 5, 6 mile stretch of road before we even hit the autobahn.
Tractor trailer hits the stretch first and pulled off slightly to allow us through. I launched off in 2nd (base of a hill) and the TDI is still on my ass (I'll get to the 325 later). I knew he wouldn't be there long, my car was still spooling up for the shift to 3rd. I let the tach reach 5500 rpms before I shifted into 4th, and I was crossing 130 kph. The TDI was three car lenghths behind, pacing me. We ran into another tractor trailer and it was a cease fire until we hit the Autobahn.
We all reached the 'Bahn in the same order; soon as the soild line switched into a broken one, I downshifted into 3rd (remember the slow ass tractor trailer), slipped the clutch a bit and floored it! This time the TDI gave chase! I kept the foot buried until the tach again reached 5500 (to scared to redline this car yet) before shifting into 4th. The TDI is closing. Now I'm anxious.......
this time I let the tach reach 6000 rpms before I shifted (I rounding 190 kph, 114 mph) into 5th. The TDI is closing. Then something I knew was going to happen, happened. The car beagn to vibrate..... violently. I knew it was due to a balancing/alignment problem. The dealer told me they'll call me with an appointment this week. But the front end got light ! My turn off was approaching quickly, and I didn't want to hit the off ramp braking with a vibrator, so I pulled over and let the TDI gobble me. :(
The world of automobiles is like a big pond......there is always a bigger fish. 3 seconds after the TDI passed me.......the American Spec. 325i shook the living shit outa my car and gobbled up the TDI. :)
Homegirl, who was driving the 325, must have been running late. :stickoutt
First mods for me: lowering my suspension and buying better wheels. My CG is way too high. I could've led that TDI on a leash If I hadn't had these problems.
